James Buddy Handleson[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Keep. Ruslik_Zero 19:35, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is not even the actor's real name. No sources provided. Tinton5 (talk) 17:48, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, per nomination. QuasyBoy (talk) 21:39, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Enquiry – How do you know it is not his real name? Nickelodeon reports his name as "James" – M-Magazine reports his name as "James". Do you have a source that specifically states that his real name is only Buddy Handleson? I see that this redirect is the result of a page move with which I would agree per WP:COMMONNAME. I'm not sure I would agree with the nom's removal of "James" from the article's lead, however, and maybe this redirect should be kept. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 19:30, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The first source is a user-edited wiki. The second one does not say "James" at all. Delete unless reliable sources are found. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 23:54, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Taylor. Mybad on the first one, I suppose. The M-Magazine article is more subtle – check the URL (http://...) code. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 02:03, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as a former page title and potential search term. While there's very little evidence that his name includes James, there's some indication to that effect. Possibly tag with {{R from incorrect name}} as appropriate. I see few benefits to keeping, but none for deletion. --BDD (talk) 21:51, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Here is another page that refers to him as "James". I've also come across some cached pages on Google that call him "James", but on the current pages the "James" has been omitted. I also found a search sight that listed a "James Handleson" in Buddy's hometown of Danville, CA. While there is still nothing solid and "official", there is enough evidence to keep this redirect, but not yet enough to return the "James" to the article's lead. The more popular he gets, the more info they'll release about him. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 13:12, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - the combination of the article being created at this title with the snippets found in this discussion indicate that this is a plausible search term. Search terms do not need to be accurate only not-harmful and I see no harm in keeping. The Whispering Wind (talk) 21:17, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This is not the kid's real name. The sources provided are not convincing that they are third party reliable sources. Tinton5 (talk) 00:10, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, no one will be searching for James Buddy Handleson anyway. Delete. Tinton5 (talk) 00:12, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I regret, but on the contrary, there were nearly 3,000 searches for James Buddy Handleson last month. The accuracy of the name is not the pivotal point only that it is a plausible search term for Buddy Handleson which clearly it is. The Whispering Wind (talk) 00:22, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Whisper, you may be on to something. How do you find out the number of searches? Tinton5 (talk) 00:25, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, click the 'stats' button at the end of the line below the heading and select the month from the drop-down below the chart. HTH. The Whispering Wind (talk) 00:29, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Wikipedia:WikiProject Swami Vivekananda. (NAC) Armbrust The Homunculus 12:24, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is the only and the best short cut for newly created Wikipedia:WikiProject Swami Vivekananda. TitoDutta 12:56, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak retarget I suppose there's no problem usurping a shortcut to a failed proposal with very few incoming links of any sort. If the person is frequently referred to as SV, however, he should at least be added to the dab SV. --BDD (talk) 20:52, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • @BDD: Actually, we do not have any other option here. Swami in WP:SWAMI is like "Sir" or "Lord", so not an applicable shortcut, and the last name WP:VIVEKANANDA is just not a "shortcut". Yes, SVare the accepted initials of Swami Vivekananda. Just today, I created WP:SVD. WP:STAVER and WP:STABVER might be shortcut of stable version TitoDutta 19:13, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per nom but leave a hatnote to Wikipedia:Stable versions to prevent breaking links.--Lenticel (talk) 01:09, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as is Retarget per nom. I still don't see anything wrong with WP:WSV or WP:WPSV, and they can be created and used as well; however, there are precedents for the nom's proposal such as WP:BBC, WP:ARCH and so forth. Lenticel's hatnote at the top of the project page is a good idea, at least temporarily. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 17:35, 28 September 2013 (UTC) 11:16, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
They are as yet uncreated shortcuts also known as Wikipedia:WSV and Wikipedia:WPSV. Either one will work for your proposed target without having to change an already targeted shortcut. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 22:55, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • No. the focus should be on SV. WP is generally not used in shortcuts. TitoDutta 23:36, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The focus should be on the WikiProject SV or WSV or WPSV. And sorry to burst your bubble; there are a whole lot of shortcuts that use WP. Please see the list of project (WP:) shortcuts at (where else?) WP:WP, as well as this long list of WP prefixes, many of which are WikiProject shorcuts. Joys! – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 01:41, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Go and check the page WP:WP you have linked, there is only few WikiProjects which start with WP:WP, needle in haystack. The long list of prefixes you have given— most of those pages are either not WikiProjects OR those pages have multiple shortcrust. But, the current WikiProject has not any shortcut at this moment and SV is the easiest and the best shortcut. I am trying to contemplate here. I agree WPSV is not a bad alternative, but, the bird's eye here is SV, and I hope you'll agree too that SV is much better than WPSV as a shortcut. --TitoDutta 00:28, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
oy... – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 03:18, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • SV the shortcut used by scholars, see the third paragraph here. --TitoDutta 15:16, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. JohnCD (talk) 17:22, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion. There used to be a PDAB (Partial Disambiguation) section at WP:D. It has been removed due to not having consensus support. The current target is a decent work-a-round, but there is really no need for this redirect at all. B2C 00:47, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment as there was some support for PDAB, why not just rebuild it as an essay, and point PDAB there? -- 65.92.181.39 (talk) 04:25, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Nothing wrong with the IP's suggestion, but the essay should be written first. --BDD (talk) 20:50, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 20:52, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
