List of nonexistent articles[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- List of nonexistent articles → Wikipedia:Most wanted articles (links to redirect • history • stats) [ Closure: keep/delete ]
Delete. This is a cross-namespace redirect and also is a novel article title, it is unlikely readers would be searching for "nonexistent articles" Liz Read! Talk! 16:10, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- As I noted when creating it, this ranks at #88 in User:West.andrew.g/Popular_redlinks, the "weekly list of the most requested red links on Wikipedia", with 2,417 requests in the week the list was prepared. When I created it, I marked it with {{R to project}} which put it in Category:Redirects to project space. I chose the target, Wikipedia:Most wanted articles, over Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles, because the data for one come from January, whereas the other is from 2008. Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles is linked from the hatnote in Wikipedia:Most wanted articles. I can't say whether the requests are by people or by spiders, but the fact that there are at least three lists of nonexistent articles (West.andrew.g's list, which inspired the addition of the redirect, being another) speaks to the utility of the notion. —rybec 16:53, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- Keep-2,416 hits in one month is well over what's normally seen from bots and spiders. This level of activity more or less demands a redirect. Cross namespace redirects aren't always bad things.--Fyre2387 (talk • contribs) 20:46, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- Delete I didn't know that stats.grok.se provided histograms until I looked just now with Javascript enabled. The graphs for "List of unoriginal comments", "We can settle this like gentlemen or get into some real gangsta shit" and "Blam blam blam to dem all listen to the shots from my nigga Doggy Dogg" look just like the one for "List of nonexistent articles", with almost all the requests coming on the 22nd and 23rd of October. I was played. Sorry, everyone. —rybec 23:33, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- Rybec, since you created this redirect, and are opting to have it deleted yourself, I believe that this redirect would be eligible for speedy deletion criterion G7, if you place the tag in it (if you desire.) Steel1943 (talk) 00:58, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
- Delete. It's a CNR, recently created, and the creator says "delete". Should be flushed. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 18:16, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Delete per Paine. WP:TOPRED can be a good source of search terms, but from examples such as We can settle this like gentlemen or get into some real gangsta shit, it's clear that there's some noise that goes into that list as well. Even if we were to create a CNR at this title, I'd want to see it to a dab (or list of lists) that also incorporates Wikipedia:Requested articles, and perhaps some others. --BDD (talk) 00:24, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
- Delete as a recently created CNR without any overriding utility. The Whispering Wind (talk) 00:31, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
