Back from Ashes[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. JohnCD (talk) 22:43, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

deletion - the redirect (a music group) could plausibly be expanded into an article, and the target article contains no information on the subject. Mjeromee (talk) 20:23, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Reply - Check this out. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:47, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Whatever claims about this band's notability were made in that (failed) AfD, this redirect just doesn't make sense. Ironically, if Back from Ashes were influential enough in the music of Arizona, it'd be worth having an article on them! Delete per WP:REDLINK. --BDD (talk) 23:52, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete per above discussion. If we need to point to anything, it would be an article about the band. Mangoe (talk) 12:37, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as implausible redirect, the AfD tells us that they are not notable enough.--Lenticel (talk) 01:14, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Adaso[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete. Lenticel (talk) 01:01, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Delete I don't really know if Henry Adaso is notable enough to warrant a biography on en.wiki but in the meantime this redirect is not helpful. Pichpich (talk) 15:05, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Possible WP:REDLINK per nom, but either way, the target page says nothing about the subject. --BDD (talk) 23:56, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete Again, the only reasonable target would be to a biography or about an institution with whom he had a personal connection mentioned in the article. Mangoe (talk) 12:38, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the debate. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

Neopagandom[edit]

The result of the discussion was keep. For future reference, nominations of similar redirects to the same target with the same rationale are best grouped into one discussion. Thryduulf (talk) 10:03, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing links here and alternate redirects with -dom suffixes are no longer needed. —Sowlos 14:17, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, should redirect to the same place as Neopaganism, which it does. People search Wikipedia in many ways, not just by typing the search term slowly in the box while keeping an eye on the dropdown options. Siuenti (talk) 22:22, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Readers type *pagan before they type *pagandom. Also, terms like "Neopagandom" are so far from common vernacular and usage in the search bar that one must type "Neopagand" before "Nepagandom" is suggested in the search dropdown. Actually, *paganism is the most common option. (Which probably why all the relevant articles are named with -sim and is why I did not nominate any -ism redirects for deletion.)
To say readers will be confused by the lack of a suffix that is not used does not seem to hold much weight. The only other purpose for redirects is ease of wikilinking from other pages. Since Mediawiki allows "[[Neopagan]]dom" to turn the whole term (including the trailing suffix) into a wikilink, this redirect and the others I nominated are superfluous.—Sowlos 12:39, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Under Guiding Principles it says "If someone could plausibly enter the redirect's name when searching for the target article, it's a good redirect." This term does appear to be rare, but it's certainly not implausible that someone would want to look for it. You are assuming that the search box makes this unnecessary, but there are many people who won't see it, including fast typists, people looking at the keyboard while they type, people using a screen reader, and people searching by directly editing the URL. There is also no benefit in deleting this redirect, because it's unambiguous and not getting in the way of anything else. Redirects are cheap, see WP:CHEAP. Siuenti (talk) 16:53, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep It's obvious what the link means, and that's all that matters. We don't delete links to discourage people from bad/odd spellings. Mangoe (talk) 12:40, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No page links here and "Neopaganry" can now be linked [[Neopagan]]ry —Sowlos 12:17, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • AFAIK it's always been possible to make links like that. Redirects are not just for links, they are also for plausible search terms, and this is one. Also if someone happens to make a new link like [neopaganry] instead of [neopagan]ry they should still get a blue link. Siuenti (talk) 22:29, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
