Wikipedia:Muhammad[edit]

- The result of the discussion was Retarget to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Islam-related_articles#Muhammad. Ruslik_Zero 18:56, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Muhammad → Help:Options to hide an image (links to redirect • history • stats) [ Closure: keep/delete ]
Rarely used (the two incoming links are an archive of Talk:Muhammad and an IP user talk) and misleading. I was looking for general information about how we treat Islamic conventions like "peace be upon him," etc. I'd like to see the redirect deleted to prevent confusion and to encourage a good essay about these topics. BDD (talk) 17:34, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. Not plausible. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 18:34, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Retarget to Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Muhammad images (unless there is a page that better summarise the agreed status quo somewhere), as this is much closer to what I was expecting this to be a shortcut to - the current target is not harmful, but its a long way down the list of useful places to end up. Thryduulf (talk) 02:06, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- To a closed RFC? Really? --BDD (talk) 04:31, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, because it details the current consensus about Muhammed images which is what I expect to find and the end of a WP:Muhammad link. There may be somewhere that does it better, but if so I've not found it. Thryduulf (talk) 07:39, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- To a closed RFC? Really? --BDD (talk) 04:31, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- I found what I was originally looking for: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Islam-related articles#Islamic honorifics (specifically #Muhammad). I think it might be a good idea to convert this into a quasi-dab page overviewing and linking to a few related policies, the gist of which is that we discuss Muhammad and similar topics from a neutral perspective, not an Islamic one. Anyone else want to (quasi)-disambiguate? --BDD (talk) 18:12, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Retarget as suggested by BDD, that's just what people are looking for. I'd be open to disambig, too, and an essay describe how Wikipedia treats him is also not a bad idea. Ego White Tray (talk) 04:03, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

- Mannam → Shinchonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (links to redirect • history • stats) [ Closure: keep/delete ]
They are two different organization and have no correlation. --WinnieDany (talk) 13:28, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
Procedural close Shinchonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony is an article. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 21:46, 11 December 2012 (UTC)- Note: nominator made an error and listed the redirects backward in the nomination. I have corrected it.--Fyre2387 (talk • contribs) 23:14, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
- Keep According to this, they are the same organization. - Presidentman talk · contribs(Talkback) 01:39, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- Delete. They co-hosted same event, but they are individual organizations. Shinchonji is a religious organization, Mannam is a volunteer association. So they have to be separated into two individual articles. Here is Mannam's international homepage. And this is Shinchonji's. --Lightinme (talk) 07:03, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- Keep Mannam and Shinchonji have the same chairman. They aren't the same organisation, but Mannam is entirely controlled, operated, and funded by Shinchonji. Lee Man-hee's current tour of Africa is under the Mannam name, but it is entirely managed by Shinchonji. Junganghansik (talk) 08:53, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- Delete. Mannam is Volunteer organization www.mannam.org / http://www.mannamintl.org/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.98.152.8 (talk • contribs)
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.
- Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Thryduulf (talk) 02:17, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Mannam is Shinchonji, but the organisers want to keep it a secret. Take a look at the Lee Man-hee page, where all reference to him being the honorary chairman of Mannam has been deleted numerous times despite the fact it is not a secret. Junganghansik (talk) 05:54, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was retarget to Monster (2003 film). JohnCD (talk) 19:03, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
- Selby Wall → Aileen Wuornos (links to redirect • history • stats) [ Closure: keep/delete ]
This redirect should be deleted as there appears to be no reason for it to exist. It seems to be completely random; no mention of it appears in the target article in any form Tonywalton Talk 01:10, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- retarget to Monster (2003 film). In the film, "Selby Wall" is the name of Wuornos' (fictionalised) girlfriend. This redirect originally pointed at Tyria Moore, Wuornos' real-life girlfriend. The present target arose after Moore's article was redirected to Wuorno's (her only notability is for being her girlfriend - c.f. WP:NOTINHERITED). This redirect gets several hundred hits a month and so it's clear that people are searching for information about Selby Wall, which they wont find on Wuonos' article but will find plenty of on the article about the film. For reference, [1] reports on the two theories why the film did not use Moore's name. Thryduulf (talk) 02:07, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- I wish I'd understood a word of that. Tonywalton Talk 23:46, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'll try again - I think Selby Wall should be retargetted to Monster (2003 film) because "Selby Wall" is the name of a prominent character in that film. The rest of my comment was explaining the reason why the redirect exists in its present form (you can skip this if you want): "Selby Wall" was redirected to Tyria Moore because that is the person the character is based on. Tyria Moore's only claim to notability is for being the girlfriend of a notable person (Aileen Wuornos), so the article about her was changed to a redirect to the notable person's article. This article then became a double redirect, so the target was changed to be Aileen Wuornos to fix that. Thryduulf (talk) 02:16, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

- Now that I understood. Thanks for the re-explanation! Tonywalton Talk 07:54, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
