The result of the discussion was Delete. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 10:43, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Seems utterly implausible. Ironholds (talk) 19:46, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Links and pageviews suggest that only the creator has used it since it's creation. It is not mentioned at the target article. All of the five google hits I see are Wikipedia and derivative pages. The most appropriate guideline I found is WP:DABABBREV, which states Do not add articles to abbreviation or acronym disambiguation pages unless the target article defines the acronym or abbreviation." While this is discussing disambiguation pages, the spirit of the guideline applies to redirects as well: if the acronym is not included at the target, and it is not notable enough to warrant adding there, then a redirect is unwise. I would also like to reply in advance to the hypothetical counter-argument that the acronym is unambiguous and unnecessary to mention at the target because a reader can sort out where it came from: remember, it's the principle of least astonishment, not the principle of not very much astonishment. BigNate37(T) 22:30, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, well as creator, I was unaware of the policy when I created it, on the lines of redirects like LOHGBF. If it is indeed useless, its definitely worth deleting. Thanks. Secret of success (talk) 14:44, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • For the record that's not policy, but a guideline that I interpreted somewhat liberally in order to make my point. BigNate37(T) 16:53, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Automatic Loveletter[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was speedy keep (type 1), withdrawn by nominator as the underlying issue has been corrected. BigNate37(T) 07:04, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Malformed template that only serves as redirect to main namespace. To avoid misunderstandings: templates are not supposed to act as a simple redirect from the template namespace to the main namespace. Templates are supposed to "do" something (present an infobox, navigation or the likes). The Banner talk 18:14, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - Template links to 5 pages that do not otherwise link to one another. If needed, I will describe in part which pages do not link to which. As can be seen, the intention is to create navboxes out of the article names.--Jax 0677 (talk) 20:30, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Nice, but the number of links was not the problem. The fact that you made a redirect out of it was the problem. Please, stop with that. The Banner talk 20:33, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Request closure as template is edited into a useful template The Banner talk 20:33, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

M60 in black ops[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete. Tikiwont (talk) 17:04, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete there are multiple games called "Black Ops"/"Black Operations" and there are the real world black ops, which would use the real world M60 gun or other M60s, so this isn't a useful redirect, as it is ambiguous. 76.65.128.252 (talk) 11:53, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, you've got a point there. The redirect I applied to the original article was based on this revision which referred to Call of Duty, but the page name is in fact ambiguous. De728631 (talk) 12:03, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Buckshot06 (talk) 20:39, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom: this is a useless redirect. Nick-D (talk) 00:46, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete The search page would be more useful.Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 14:36, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete to vague as both "M60" and "Black ops" may mean different things.--Lenticel (talk) 00:48, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

«Қазақстанның «АҚ ЖОЛ» Демократиялық партиясы»[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete as implausible. Ruslik_Zero 17:29, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Improbable typo, recently created redirect, the entire pagename is enclosed in quotation marks, with a second set of quotation marks embedded within 76.65.128.252 (talk) 04:28, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment My interpretation would say this would qualify as a speedy deletion under R3, but an admin declined, so this is now at RFD. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 10:33, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, the quotations marks make it an implausible redirect. De728631 (talk) 12:15, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, No. Quotations marks in Kazakh names represent preserving, just like "Нұр Отан" Халықтық Демократиялық Партиясы. --112.207.222.32 (talk) 08:07, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment that title is not entirely enclosed in quotation marks. This title is entirely enclosed in quotes. There are two sets of quotes here, your example only has one set which does not enclose the entire linkname. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 09:26, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - useful navigation aid, no benefit in deleting it. Deletion would be a straightforward violation of Wikipedia:Don't be a dick. WilyD 09:02, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • May be worth reading the page you just linked Wily, especially the section titled How to deal with dicks without being a dick yourself, first paragraph. You fail to assume good faith by erroneously assuming that everyone already thinks these redirects are as useful as you think they are, and you make motive judgments based on that assumption. Instead you should be trying to convince the other side that these redirects really are useful via the careful citation of guidelines, policy or usage statistics. What you're doing amounts to argumentum ad hominem coupled with round-about namecalling; it's probably the poorest argument possible in a deletion discussion. You're not going to build a consensus by calling everyone a dick. BigNate37(T) 14:51, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - The two guillemets should be discussed in the future. Jadambyn Byamakov (talk) 13:10, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • We are discussing it. Why do you want to keep them? -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 13:30, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: this is verbatim copy of the bold part of the lede at kk:Ақ жол Демократиялық Партиясы (Kazakh counterpart of Democratic Party of Kazakhstan Ak Zhol), so it might be useful for navigation purposes. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 01:09, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete because we don't keep quote redirects. They're not helpful and clutter up search boxes with extraneous noise. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 16:16, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. We wouldn't keep a redirect quotes in, whether correctly done or not, to something that wasn't a quote or title (and usually not even then) in English so there is no reason to keep it in a foreign language. Thryduulf (talk) 09:01, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete – One puts quotation marks around search terms, but one wouldn't search for "quoted terms" expecting the results to then also have quotation marks. Senator2029 • talk 10:14, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

«ҚазМұнайГаз» Ұлттық компаниясы» АҚ[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete as implausible. Ruslik_Zero 17:39, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Improbable typo, recently created redirect, there is either an extra closing quote or a missing opening quotation mark, and it is quite impossible to see how either could come about. 76.65.128.252 (talk) 04:28, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment My interpretation would say this would qualify as a speedy deletion under R3, but an admin declined, so this is now at RFD. -- [[Special:Contributions
  • Delete, the quotations marks make it an implausible redirect. De728631 (talk) 12:21, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, it means "National Company "KazMunayGas" JSC.--112.207.222.32 (talk) 22:38, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment that's what I mean by the quotation marks don't make sense. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 22:46, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Comment talk to Daniyar about that. --112.207.222.32 (talk) 22:55, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • Reply why would I need to open a second private discussion, on kk.wiki, when there's a public discussion here, for a user not English Wikipedia, about something on English Wikipedia ? -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 05:06, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete per WP:CSD#R3, failing that delete per WP:RFD#DELETE #8 as a recently created implausible typo. The Kazakh name for this company is ҚазМұнайГаз, and that one itself gets very little traffic. This awkward title/subject construct with incorrect quotation marks is an extremely implausible search term at the English Wikipedia. BigNate37(T) 07:19, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - useful navigation aid, deletion presents no benefit. Deletion would be a straightforward violation of Wikipedia:Don't be a dick. WilyD 09:01, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • This redirect would fail being created at WP:AFC. If it would fail being created, then it is a viable deletion target, since the standard at AFC is supposed to be creation of redirects that would not be deleted. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 22:56, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete: even Kazakh Wikipedia article doesn't include this variation. That said, if Kazakh business typography habits are preserved since Soviet Union, this is perfectly valid way to spell the name of the company. Eg., ОАО «САК «Энергогарант», not ОАО «САК «Энергогарант»». — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 01:22, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. We wouldn't keep a redirect quotes in, whether correctly done or not, to something that wasn't a quote or title (and usually not even then) in English so there is no reason to keep it in a foreign language. Thryduulf (talk) 09:01, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Demi Lovato[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete all per established practice for such redirects. Ruslik_Zero 18:55, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete this language is unrelated to the target. Nothing to do with her Mexican, Irish, Italian, and English roots. WP:NOTDICT, Wikipedia is not a translation dictionary. There is the outcome from a similar RFD last year which was to delete this kind of redirect, where the language in question was not closely related to the topic at hand. The result was endorsed at DRV a couple of months ago, as well. 76.65.128.252 (talk) 04:32, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete all per previous discussion of similar content. De728631 (talk) 12:11, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all - I agree with the DRV's result. Exit2DOS CtrlAltDel 19:29, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - useful navigation aid, no benefit provided by deletion. Deletion would be a straightforward violation of Wikipedia:Don't be a dick. WilyD 09:00, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • there's WP:RFD#DELETE#8, which is presented as a valid reason for deletion -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 01:47, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Dunno. The Cyrillic names are represented in the Former Soviet Union. دەمىي لوۆاتو is likely a Kazakh name transliterated in Arabic script. If you want "Тупак Шакур", let's establish an armistice for the deletion and creation of non-English redirects, for the duration of talks. --Jadambyn Byamakov (talk) 20:58, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • That should also be deleted, per the same criterion. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 00:35, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lady Gaga[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete the first one and Keep the second as plausible misspelling. Ruslik_Zero 18:58, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete this language is unrelated to the target. Nothing to do with her Italian or French-Canadian roots, or English-language of her songs. WP:NOTDICT, Wikipedia is not a translation dictionary. There is the outcome from a similar RFD last year which was to delete this kind of redirect, where the language in question was not closely related to the topic at hand. The result was endorsed at DRV a couple of months ago, as well. 76.65.128.252 (talk) 04:38, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete "Леди Гага" as a non-native name, but keep "Ledi Gaga" which looks like a plausible redirect for bad spelling. De728631 (talk) 12:14, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Ledi Gaga only. BigNate37(T) 15:36, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Does anyone know what language “Ledi Gaga” is in? Gorobay (talk) 18:15, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Reply In Serbian. Some people use "Ledi" over "Lady" in transliterating Serbian written in Cyrillic into Serbian written in Latin. --112.207.222.32 (talk) 08:13, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Comment Is "Ledi" a word in Serbian? -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 13:23, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • Comment It's a loanword from Russian, anon. --Jadambyn Byamakov (talk) 13:04, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
          • And is it the translation for "Lady" from English? -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 13:32, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
            • It is a loanword from English through Russian. In Russian it is used either to refer to English title, or to denote noble ancestry. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 12:57, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
              • That's a rather convoluted journey... -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 00:41, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
                • Azerbaijanis use "Ledi Qaqa" in any websites in Azerbaijani. So it is a direct transliteration from Russian. --Jadambyn Byamakov (talk) 11:47, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all - I agree with the DRV's result. Exit2DOS CtrlAltDel 19:29, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Ledi as a plausible misspelling; delete Леди per already-linked precedent of deleting redirects in foreign languages that are unrelated to the subject and not likely to be plausible for English speakers. Nyttend (talk) 23:55, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep useful navigation aid, improves the usability of the encyclopaedia. No arguments have been presented for deletion (nor do they exist). Deletion would be a straightforward violation of Wikipedia:Don't be a dick. WilyD 08:59, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Reply no argument has been presented? I take it you mean that precedents are not valid arguments? Doesn't Wikipedia work on consensus and precedents? Also there's WP:RFD#DELETE#8, which is presented as a valid reason for deletion -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 01:45, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all: it is hard to imagine a person, who doesn't know the spelling of the word "Lady", so this rationale doesn't apply. Otherwise these are language-based redirects to a subject with no ties to respective languages. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 12:57, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment If she knows Russian, keep them instead. --Jadambyn Byamakov (talk) 21:04, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Reply Do you know that she knows Russian? Since you seem to not know, then are you in favor of deletion because you don't know? -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 00:43, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • Comment Dunno. If she speaks Russian in any interviews, we'll see. --Jadambyn Byamakov (talk) 06:10, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
          • As far as Wiki-awnsers knows, she is Italian-American (as are both her parents), but she has been able to speak Swedish. So all the Cyrillic language redirs can safely go. Exit2DOS CtrlAltDel 00:36, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
            • Comment Hmm.... If she has the ability to speak Russian in the future, we will retrieve the Russian/multilingual Cyrillic name in the future. We will see how her Russian, and Kazakhstani (and also other Central Asian) fans supporting her. --Jadambyn Byamakov (talk) 11:44, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
              • That violates WP:CRYSTAL -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 15:29, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
              • FWIW even if Russian and Serbian were here mother tongues these redirects wouldn't be warranted, as she is known as "Lady Gaga" in Russia and ex-Yugoslavia, not as "Леди Гага" or "Ledi Gaga", and even the sources using Cyrillic transcription universally include the latin spelling. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 16:05, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete all. Ruslik_Zero 19:03, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete these are in a language unrelated to the primary markets (North America, Japan) or the production studios (US studios, English) or primary publisher (Activision, US, English) of the video game. WP:NOTDICT, Wikipedia is not a translation dictionary. There is the outcome from a similar RFD last year which was to delete this kind of redirect, where the language in question was not closely related to the topic at hand. The result was endorsed at DRV a couple of months ago, as well. 76.65.128.252 (talk) 04:58, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nomination. De728631 (talk) 12:23, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all - I agree with the DRV's result. Exit2DOS CtrlAltDel 19:30, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - useful navigation aid, no arguments for why we should delete these. They make the encyclopaedia more usable (and thus better). Deletion is a straightforward violation of Wikipedia:Don't be a dick. WilyD 08:58, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • This redirect would fail being created at WP:AFC. If it would fail being created, then it is a viable deletion target, since the standard at AFC is supposed to be creation of redirects that would not be deleted. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 22:58, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above. If we would do that with every article...--Kürbis () 20:23, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Let's see, there are over 20 million pages including redirects. If we do this with every video game, we'd have over a trillion pages. ZappaOMati 02:49, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all: no ties to the language. FWIW these are Russian localized names (except for Зов Долга: Секретные операции 2), and in Russia the games are normally better known by English titles. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 01:00, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Selena Gomez[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete all per criterion 8. Ruslik_Zero 17:31, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete This is directly related to the last Selena Gomez RFD last year which was to delete this kind of redirect, where the language in question was not closely related to the topic at hand. The result was endorsed at DRV a couple of months ago, as well. WP:NOTDICT, Wikipedia is not a translation dictionary. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 10:14, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nomination. De728631 (talk) 12:24, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all - I agree with the DRV's result. Exit2DOS CtrlAltDel 19:31, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - useful navigation aid, no benefit derived from deletion. Deletion makes the encyclopaedia less usable (and thus, worse)> WilyD 08:57, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • How is it useful as a navigation aid? If a person is reading the English WP, what are the chances that they are typing in whatever سلنا ماری گومز is, as a search term? Especially when that is not a language that the subject of the Article has any particular connection too. (Does the subject of this Article speak, read or write any of these languages?) It is far beyond more than likely readers would go to a 'pedia that they both type, and read in; that makes it not useful as a search term on English Wikipedia.
