  • Weak Delete - Agreed with nominator. This gets effectively no traffic and seems extremely unlikely to help anyone. I don't see the harm, but I don't see the potential for help either. —mako 18:01, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

FM[edit]

The result of the discussion was turn into disambiguation page with FM (disambiguation) redirecting there. Retargetting to FM (disambiguation) has most support here, and that means that there is no 'main' article for FM. Given that it is a better naming to have the disambiguation at FM and the dab page redirecting. FM has no meaningfull edit history, only redirecting here and there, so I am moving "FM (disambiguation)" to "FM" over the redirect. - Nabla (talk) 18:57, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect to FM (disambiguation) or, alternatively, Redirect to FM broadcasting: There has been a long back-and-forth at Talk:FM over the last few weeks about this redirect but it has failed to get enough editors from the articles involved to come to consensus. Currently, FM redirects to frequency modulation but there are many other meanings. A look at Special:Whatlinkshere/FM shows many incoming links. By my evaluation, these seem to mostly be referring to FM broadcasting (i.e., articles about radio stations) but there are also some links using the link to refer to the engineering process of frequency modulation (i.e., the article that explains the mathematics through which frequencies are modulated). This seems like multiple primary meanings which makes the redirect a good candidate for disambiguation. The arguments seems to be complicated by the fact that the letters "FM" in all the common uses (e.g., FM broadcasting and FM band) literally means "frequency modulation." More detail and previous discussion is on Talk:FM. —mako 19:04, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to FM broadcasting. Looking at the incoming links this seems to be the prime use. Retargetting to FM (disambiguation) would break a whole bunch of links. Bridgeplayer (talk) 01:13, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to FM (disambiguation). In the short term it will break some links, but not catastrophically because users will be still be able to reach the page they want, albeit with one more click. A significant minority of the links refer to frequency modulation (not broadcasting) and FM synthesis, and retargeting to FM Broadcasting would fail to address this.--Harumphy (talk) 08:39, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to the disambig page. I personally volunteer to fix the broken links at this request's close, because ultimately people searching for FM would like a disambig page (imo), so they can find exactly what they want. Ajraddatz (Talk) 03:44, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, I'd be happy to help with updating the links as well if the final decision is to retarget. There seem to be more than a thousand incoming links so there'd be plenty of work to go around. I could probably semi-automate most of them using information from categories. That said, I'd still be fine with either FM broadcasting or the DAB. (And if there is retargetting, I'd appreciate a message on my talk page from whoever closes this.) —mako 18:00, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It really wouldn't be that hard to do using AWB, especially if multiple people were doing it. Ajraddatz (Talk) 18:07, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Replace with disambiguation page Since both broadcasting and the method it uses are very likely. 70.24.251.158 (talk) 04:57, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
