I need the redirect of Dream.17 deleted to clear room for Dream17 to be renamed with that name. Currently Dream.17 redirects to a list of Dream events. I'm a little confused by this RFD process, so to clarify, I do NOT want Dream17 deleted. This is the proper article that will be kept and eventually renamed. I would just like to have Dream.17 deleted so that I can eventually rename the aforementioned article. If there is any confusion, please message me before deletion. Thanks.   • Delete - I have not sourced a connection though the creator may be able to assist. However, though defunct, this award was in existence for six years and it is likely that it was notable.   • Comment - In retrospect it looks like I mistakenly created the redirect after viewing this page: The Locus Index to SF Awards: About the Balrog Awards. For all the references to the award available, there's surprisingly little background information about it.   • Reference: Nemedian Chronicles #4: In Issue #15 of Fantasy Crossroads, "(editor Jonathan Bacon) announces the establishment of the first fantasy poetry award, the 'Smitty.' and an award for fantasy fiction and other related achievements called the 'Balrog'". The award was also proposed by SF artist Arnie Fenner, and was first given at an event called Fool-con in 1979 at Johnson County Community College, Kansas. --George100 (talk) 12:03, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support this is clearly a creation of another sock account by banned User:Mac, in violation of his indef ban. He has already tried twice within two months of each other under two different sock accounts to move Oil well to "fossil fuel well" (see Talk:Oil_well#Move.3F_.28May_2010.29).     • Hamiltha has been blocked as another sock of banned user Mac. This redirect was created by him in violation of his ban and I've placed a speedy tag on it accordingly. Mac has lost the right to edit this encyclopedia following years of misuse, which prominently included misusing WP to advance his pet views on fossil fuels and energy.   • Convert to disambiguation page - we all know about Mac but this is a valid term - see here, here and here for example. We have several relevant articles including Oil well, Offshore drilling and Deepwater drilling. Creation by a banned user means we may delete not that we must. Entirely plausible search term.   • I strongly disagree. Keeping would only encourage him to evade his ban again and come back under another identity to create more content and havoc. We must not enable this. He has lost his right to edit or create content here, period. There are larger issues at stake than some obscure redirect.     • We would not be keeping this redirect we would be converting it into a disambiguation page; not what Mac intended. Having said that, this is not a "NEO term"; it is a perfectly respectable term used in many reliable sources. We can't avoid sensible actions based on the entirely speculative grounds that it might encourage a banned user - the way to deal with Mac is by administrative action and that is in hand.       • It may not be exactly what he intended but now he gets a blue link for this term. And I'm quite sure when he's back again he'll resume his obsession with with Fossil fuel this or that. He doesn't have the right to create anything. Period. He lost that three blocks ago. An "administrative action" such as reblocking him means little if well-intentioned editors like you allow him back in to add more content and continue to reshape the project, even in small increments, like this. He'll be back; what you're proposing is still an inducement to return and resume, whether you realize it or not. The best course of action is to erase his contributions and deny him that which he craves, which is to continue to contribute to this project in violation of multiple indef bans.
