Randy Jackson (musician)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Retarget. fetch·comms 02:10, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Randy Jackson of The Jacksons used to exist at this title, but it was recently moved to Randy Jackson (The Jacksons), as there are two other WP articles on musicians named Randy Jackson. Now I'm not sure if this redirect should be retargeted to Randy Jackson (disambiguation) or outright deleted, so I'm bringing it here. —KuyaBriBriTalk 19:52, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'd say retarget to the dab page. The The Jacksons musician was at that title for a long time, and there are still a lot of pages that link to the redirect. (They should also be corrected before retargeting the redirect to the dab page.) Jafeluv (talk) 20:02, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Randy Jackson (disambiguation). Deletion would be a very bad idea, breaking many internal links not to say the likelihood of breaking links on external sites. The user who moved the page should really have fixed the internal links (though it would still be a keep because of the probability of doing damage to external sites). I actually intended to do it but someone nominated the redirect before I got to it. Jafeluv (talk) 02:46, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
     Done now. Jafeluv (talk) 17:58, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per Bridgeplayer, likely enough search term. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 21:59, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Randy Jackson (disambiguation)—since there are multiple Randy Jacksons who are musicians and it wouldn't really be desirable to create a second dab page, this seems best. Grondemar 12:55, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Black booty[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete --Taelus (Talk) 15:44, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete; implausible search term. Stonemason89 (talk) 19:10, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I created this from a list of commonly searched terms that did not have articles. "Black booty" was accessed 638 times last month. Assuming an average of 600 a month, the page is accessed about 7,200 times a year. KnightLago (talk) 19:20, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yikes; the question now is, why are people typing "Black booty" into the search box? It just seems weird. Stonemason89 (talk) 20:03, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - no mystery, its a porn term, booty=buttocks hence the redirect. A simple Google search provides plenty of hits on the first page of results to amply explain the practice. However, though the term relates to buttocks, and the target mentions (unsourced) the meaning of 'booty', it does not explain the the term 'black booty' so the redirect is confusing. It should be deleted, unless someone is prepared to add some reliably sourced content, because I have a hunch that the many searchers are not seeking an encyclopaedic explanation of buttocks :-) Bridgeplayer (talk) 21:39, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is a porn term as your search reveals, but it is clear that buttocks is what people are looking for. Even if not explained in the article, it seems dumb to delete it when it is so highly trafficked. KnightLago (talk) 13:41, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete booty also means treasure (as in pirate treasure), and black treasure (as in gold or jewels) wouldn't mean buttocks. 76.66.193.119 (talk) 05:25, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
See above. Let's be real here. KnightLago (talk) 13:41, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I too thought of pirates (specifically Pirates of the Caribbean, due to the Black Pearl, Blackbeard, etc.) at first. Sounds like something horny pirates would say as a double entendre (I can almost visualize them taling like that), but I don't think Wikipedia needs to cater to the, um, "needs" of horny pirates. Sorry, Jack Sparrow, but I still think this redirect should be deleted. Stonemason89 (talk) 20:50, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy retarget to Darkest Hour (The Mediator). Jafeluv (talk) 18:00, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete; nothing on the target disambig page suggests a relationship. Retarget to Darkest Hour (The Mediator), as suggested. bd2412 T 15:08, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Then why not retarget to Darkest Hour (The Mediator)? Rob Sinden (talk) 15:46, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Bad hair day? Nice catch! Bridgeplayer (talk) 15:53, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
