This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on June 8, 2009

DA'CONE[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete.--Aervanath (talk) 18:43, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target article. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 22:03, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete – I checked the page history, but nothing is given to show it a legitimate redirect (probably a character). Even so, it would be a very minor character and it confusing as it. American Eagle (talk) 23:21, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not even a character. I've searched and found bupkis related to Invader Zim. This was leftover from a hoax article saying he was in "ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny" which has nothing to do with IZ at all. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 01:01, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wikiquote says he shows up at least once. Moreover, Invaderzim.tv lists Da'Cone as being in five episodes. Now, as for why it's in all caps, I don't know. Regardless, seemingly minor character, so I'd support a move to Da'Cone at best; delete is probably the best option. ~ Amory (usertalkcontribs) 02:27, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ghent (Star Wars)[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete.--Aervanath (talk) 18:37, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion because no longer an entry for Ghent in List of Star Wars characters. Hence #REDIRECT is unhelpful and will only confuse. The #REDIRECT was an article until 2004 when it was merged. HairyWombat (talk) 21:50, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom, far too minor to warrant even being mentioned in the target. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 21:55, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete If we can't be bothered to even list the name in alphabetical order, we sure as hell can't be arsed to maintain an entire redirect page. ~ Amory (usertalkcontribs) 00:59, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Info The entry for Ghent was deleted from List of Star Wars characters in October 2008. HairyWombat (talk) 17:36, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ellenese Brooks-Simms[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Mose Jefferson.--Aervanath (talk) 18:35, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - highly unlikely search term leading to a target to which the subject has no apparent direct relationship. Otto4711 (talk) 21:35, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Change - The Brooks-Simms information should be in the Mose Jefferson article. The REDIRECT should point to that info in the Mose Jefferson article. Although it bears quick mention in the article on Renée Gill Pratt with respect to the racketeering case where Mose is also a defendant, Gill Pratt is not a defendant in the bribery case, the one where Brooks-Simms is a witness. The relationship, however, is inextricable.

What happened in terms of the Wikipedia history is that the REDIRECT was put into the Gill Pratt article at a time when the Mose article did not exist. Once the discussion has run its course, I'll be glad to take a few minutes to swing the redirect around to point to the Mose Jefferson article or even to write a separate (brief) article on Brooks-Simms (if that's what Wikers want).

On a wider plane, additionally, I sense that consideration needs to be given to having one consolidated article on the New Orleans cases in which certain Jeffersons (and Gill Pratt) have been indicted, not to include the Virginia case alleging 16 felony counts against William J. Jefferson, which is a separate matter. (Note that, at the William J. Jefferson article, there's a discussion about whether to move his legal difficulties to a separate article.)

Finally, we have to use redirects occasionally to point to consolidated information, to make relationships explicit, and to save space. In the short run here, our best choice is either to point the redirect at the Mose Jefferson article or to a newly composed brief article on Brooks-Simms. IMHO the long-term solution is to consolidate all the legal proceedings into one article and to use redirects from the articles about the participants (defendants, lawyers, witnesses, the whole kit und kaboodle). Warp pipe (disambiguation)[edit]

The result of the discussion was Redirect to Mario (series)#Recurring gameplay elements. Malinaccier (talk) 00:22, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why would a disambiguation page redirect to one article? Surely no one would ever search "Warp pipe (disambiguation)", and even if they did I doubt they are looking for what it redirects to... The only page that linked to this previously was the destination of the redirect anyway. Taelus (talk) 19:33, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

St Ninians Primary School[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete.--Aervanath (talk) 18:32, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A non-notable primary school which was redirected to education section of the town. After a clean-up, the school is not mentioned in the article anymore and therefore someone trying to find the school wouldn't get any information about it from that article. Hiromoto[edit]

The result of the discussion was Speedy deleted NAC. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 21:55, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I declined a prod on Hiromoto but because Octacube (mathematics) is the same topic I turned it into a redirect. However, I can establish no connection between the name Hiromoto and either the sculptor's name or the name of the piece (having mathematics in the title of the article is confusing but that's another issue.) So I think its delete as a nonsense redirect, but I was not quite sure enough of this to do it as a speedy. SpinningSpark 17:44, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry scrub this one out, I have just speedied it. It is obvious from the rest of the user's contributions that this is just vandalism. SpinningSpark 18:03, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Walters[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Michael Walters (Australian footballer).--Aervanath (talk) 18:29, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Walters is only mentioned once in the redirect target article- he appears to be a minor fictional character in the video game. A footballer (notable as per WP:ATHLETE) of the same name should be the prime usage of this article, not with a qualifier. The-Pope (talk) 15:52, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the athlete's name is is Michael Walter, so redirecting to that would fall under a spelling error I guess. There's another athlete by that name, a luger, so maybe a redirect to the dab page would be appropriate. ~ Amory (usertalkcontribs) 02:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The footballer I was referring to is Michael Walters (Australian footballer) - ie the exact same spelling. The-Pope (talk) 00:39, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I added the footballer to the dab, fyi. ~ Amory (usertalkcontribs) 01:18, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Perry.[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete.--Aervanath (talk) 18:24, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete -- This redirect (note the period after the name) only points to the DAB page with no additional value added. There are no links to this redirect. The edit history shows it once contained info that is covered by the Steve Perry (author) article. -- Z00ropean (talk) 01:07, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete – Having a period at the end of a title is unplausible. American Eagle (talk) 03:06, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Redirects with a single trailing period are not only implausible, they're a frequent vector for vandalism. There's no benefit to the encyclopedia from this redirect. Gavia immer (talk) 14:57, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
