The result of the debate was Keep all three. Tikiwont (talk) 09:19, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Cross namespace redirects. For a similar discussion, see Cite web. Suntag (talk) 23:03, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - Very useful as a search term for those confused about the name, and for those who don't know that it is called 'template: ...', also useful as a time saver. AFAIK, there is no rule against cross namespace redirects, only that priority should be given for appropriate namespace content if there are conflicts. Also, previous proposal to delete cite web failed. lk (talk) 11:18, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - I found this useful just now! If another thing worth an article called "cite X" arrives then it can be replaced with that. Otherwise, there is no harm in keeping it. Soft redirect it maybe to inform the user of what it is? Sillyfolkboy (talk) 18:13, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep They are useful for any wikipedia editor who doesn't want to dig through hundreds of help pages (they are quite a mess) but don't harm the regular Wikipedia visitor (who else would ever search for 'cite news' as a wikipedia entry?).Splette :) How's my driving? 19:41, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - we've been through this also in cite web; see here. --Gabi S. (talk) 17:25, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep -- very useful, and not confusing. I use it all the time when I can't remember how to find a citation template. --Coemgenus 01:06, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep Useful, it's helpful when I forget the Template: when I cite. Midorihana みどりはな 21:35, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
International condemnation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia independence → International recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia
[edit]The result of the debate was Keep. (non-admin closure) Mastrchf (t/c) 21:26, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
The redirect is clearly a POV attack-type redirect, and I would challenge the truthfulness of it, as the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia hasn't been completely condemned due to its recognition by Russia (and with other countries expected to follow) Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 18:27, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep because it helps to document the resolution of the creation of a POV fork and then of a disputed pagemove. Redirects serve a number of technical functions and are not an endorsement of the title. In fact, they are generally considered a polite way to clearly direct users to the correct, neutral title. Redirects are deliberately not held to the same standards of NPOV as article content. Rossami (talk) 19:35, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep per above. WP:NPOV does not apply to redirects. -Brougham96 (talk) 03:08, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
