  • Speedy Close. This was just nominated and closed as keep at Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/Wikipedia:Don't_be_a_dick_(3rd_nomination). While that close was based on technical defects in the original nomination (such as the fact that it should have been nominated here instead), the debate (available above) did not confine itself to these issues, and clearly reflects the lack of a consensus to delete. If the nominator has an issue with the closing, Wikipedia:Deletion review is the proper venue. WP:IARDEE IAR IAR → Wikipedia:Ignore all rules[edit]

Appears to be an attack on ignore all rules (being pronounced close to "Hardy Har Har". No pages link to it. Appears to be used by other websites as a means of attack linking/mocking WP:IAR. JoshuaZ 01:31, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:TECH → Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia Tech[edit]

Obviously a more appropriate redirect would be to Wikipedia:WikiProject Technology. I suggest retargeting. I already tried retargeting but it was reverted by Disavian (talk · contribs). Georgia tech now has three other redirects: WP:GEORGIATECH, WP:GOOGLEECH and WP:GEORGTECH--Phoenix-wiki (talk · contribs) 19:11, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • WP:TECH --> WikiProject Technology is a more intuitive redirect; If it's actively in use as a redirect to Georgia Tech, those links can be fixed. Anyone would expect to go to WikiProject Technology from this redirect. - TwoOars (Rev) 19:22, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • WP:TECH --> WikiProject Georgia Tech. WP:TECH could obviously mean a lot of things (and I added a notice to that effect at the top of Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia Tech when I reverted Phoenix-wiki), but I would prefer to keep it as-is. When I started WikiProject Georgia Tech, I would have preferred WP:GOOGLE, but that (at the moment) goes to Wikipedia:Search engine test. It takes me almost as long to type WP:GEORGIATECH as it does to type Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia Tech, thus defeating the purpose of a shortcut; although WP:GOOGLEECH is acceptable.   • I find it hard to type WP:TECHNOLOGY so I'd like it and Personal preference...well...isn't a good reason. People would expect to find Technology at the end of this.   • Status-quo While Georgia Tech is a somewhat narrower focus than Technology, WikiProject Georgia Tech is more active, and has more participants than WikiProject Technology. That could change, of course. While not nearly as important or controversial, I'm thinking of this decision, in which it was found to be more appropriate to have a shortcut/redirect point to the currently active page.     • Firstly, consensus can change and secondly, I'm reviving WP:TECHNOLOGY. As said above, hardly anyone who types WP:TECH will be looking for WikiProject Georgia Tech.     • I don't think WP:EA decision would apply, since Georgia Tech is not known as Tech. In any case, it can be redirected to Wikipedia:WikiProject Science, as many people confuse technology with science anyway, if WP:TECHNOLOGY isn't revived.   • There are many schools with Tech endings, such as Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, etc. For Georgia Tech can be redirected to WP:GOOGLE or WP:GAT. Miranda 23:36, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
