  • Improperly closed, see WP:INVOLVED. Derivative work of unfree game. Stefan2 (talk) 11:38, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • From what I've gathered, a picture of a game's cabinet - even with something on its screen - would be a free image. I don't see why this would be an exception. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 06:57, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I closed old discussion after no comment were posted for 30 days. I did leave a disclaimer, but I resign to the fact that some people stick more to policy than others. A derivative work claim is hard to beat, so I posted a rationale hoping someone will find the right tag. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 11:42, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The file was closed by an involved editor, and it was also closed for an invalid reason. PUF discussions are not closed due to lack of comments but based on the merit of the arguments. --Stefan2 (talk) 11:47, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Moving forward, all images I upload will be tagged with rationales since image patrolling is your niche. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 10:25, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note: This image is currently tagged as non-free. If there is a dispute with the rationale, please tag the image with {{dfu}} or list it at WP:Non-free content review. AnomieBOT 12:11, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Unfree in USA: Indian photo taken after 1940. Stefan2 (talk) 14:49, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If there is any way to make the image free in USA, please do let me know. There were other images of FG Natesa Iyer, in various theatrical roles - which were clearly taken before 1940. These were uploaded - and later they have been deleted. Would welcome advise on how to re insert them back to Wikipedia.

  • Unclear copyright status: both tagged as being from India and from Pakistan. If it was first published in India, then it is unfree in the United States as it wasn't published before 1941. If it was first published in Pakistan, then we need evidence that this publication took place before 1946. Stefan2 (talk) 14:54, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, Stephan2. I wasn't aware at the time of the full meaning of URAA. I didn't even know who took the picture. So, please delete. It was taken in what is now India. Where it was first published, I didn't know either. (Those were the good old days!) Fowler&fowler«Talk» 15:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Actually don't delete it yet. I'd like to save it on Wikipedia as a historic fair-use image. It is currently on two WP pages British Raj (for which I had uploaded it back in 2007) and in Feminism in India (in which someone must have added it thereafter). It is also on a subpage of mine (and I'm happy to remove it from there). If it is OK, I'll remove it later today or early tomorrow. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 15:58, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
