- The file lacks proof that the image was published over 70 years ago. The quoted source shows an upload date of six weeks after the upload to Wikipedia. I was unable to locate a source that pre-dates the upload. The file is likely still under copyright in the United States. Dianna (talk) 01:13, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I believe you are right, but could we please keep the file on Wikipedia as unfree?Hoops gza (talk) 02:34, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- We can do that if you can recall where you sourced it; any online source you provide must pre-date the upload. This step is required in order to satisfy the WP:NFCC policy criterion #4: Previous publication. Non-free content must have been previously published or publicly displayed outside Wikipedia. Can you remember where you got the file? -- Dianna (talk) 02:55, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- The file lacks proof that the image was published over 70 years ago. The quoted source is the Latvian Wiki, where the file is present as fair-use. I was unable to find any proof of publication that pre-dates the upload to the Latvian wiki. The file is likely still under copyright in the United States. - The art does not belong to the uploader. Eeekster (talk) 01:50, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The photograph of public art belongs to the uploader. The artwork was a chalk drawing on a street that has been cropped to exclude the rest of the street. It does not even exist anymore, having been washed away within hours of its completion. The drawing was a voluntary effort for a fundraising event and releases were signed by all of the artists. Many people have taken photographs of these streets and these images and many of them have been published. _ _ _ _ 83d40m (talk) 22:21, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Photograph of copyright protected art Eeekster (talk) 01:51, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The photograph of public art belongs to the uploader. I made an error on the initial form submitted because I was using a copy of one filled out previously for another file. When I saw your notice, I saw my error and corrected it. You now have reversed my correction of the inaccurate data I supplied with the image. I presumed that was your reason for citing the image so I removed the tag. Sorry, because I did not access the other photographs, I did not see the other tags at the time and logged off.
The photograph of the landscape includes artwork that is a mural or sign painted on the building. The photograph is a landscape ("streetscape") that includes several buildings. I have cropped it to concentrate mostly on the wall of one building. The image is a copy of a historic photograph that is copyright free and available at the county archives. The drawing was a voluntary effort for a fundraising event and releases were signed by all of the artists. Many people have taken photographs of the building and many images of the landscape have been published. When published, the photographs only credit the photographer. I have released my copyright in the form. I have plenty of other photographs of the festival that include murals and drawings on buildings and streets, several of which I have cropped to include in this article. _ _ _ _ 83d40m (talk) 22:54, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- The photograph may belong to you (and I certainly believe it does), but the art you photographed is subject to copyright and that copyright is owned by the creator of the art. Eeekster (talk) 01:40, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is no differences between my photographs and those posted to the article Public art. None bear a copyright issue and all are released only by the photographer, just as I have. Please check all the images and note the satisfactory completion of the forms for each of them.

Determine why none of these images in the Commons have issues by asking higher up the chain, if necessary. That holds true for the many public art images in WP. _ _ _ _ 83d40m (talk) 03:23, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
