- I suspect copyright for this article was renewed by the newspaper. This is being relisted after a questionable {{di-no permission}} tag was removed by HJ Mitchell (talk · contribs), and he suggested that I relist it here. Jsayre64 (talk) 02:06, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't think this is clear-cut enough for speedy, which was why I suggested it come here. I've no opinion on the validity of the license. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:26, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment from original submitter: I amplified the descriptions to address the concern raised. The given page http://loc.gov/pictures/item/ga0342/ leads to the full government report. The drawings submitted to Wikipedia are under the link titled "7 drawings". I didn't give the URL to that sub page because it is VERY long. I used a part of Drawing 1 and all of Drawing 2. Let me know if I can do anything else Hughespj (talk) 22:04, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- The images are not in the public domain, so the license is incorrect. While the LOC is hosting the images as part of a collection, the copyright is held by the company that produced them. Since the images were made in 1977, they are not yet in the public domain.--Danger (talk) 21:20, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- File:Leonidas Thermopylae2.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- Photograph of a modern, presumably copyrighted, statue situated in Greece, a country with only unclear/restrictive Freedom of Panorama rules as per commons:Commons:FoP. Fut.Perf. ☼ 15:49, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- It should be deleted per Law No. 3057/2002.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 18:09, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- "Presumably" copyrighted is just a guess, it doesn't mean anything. We also have no indication that the statue is even located in Greece. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Athenean (talk • contribs)
- It's the one at Thermopylae, as you can easily find out by comparing it with other photographs of that monument [2]. It was apparently built in 1955, according to our Leonidas I article. Fut.Perf. ☼ 23:15, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Even so, I have a major issue with the "presumably copyrighted". It either is or isn't, which is it? That an image may be copyrighted is not grounds for deletion. That Greece's FoP laws are "unclear" does not mean that there is a violation. Ideally, someone in the Greek government would have to be contacted to clarify this. But deletion on the grounds that the image is "presumably" copyrighted seems a bit heavy-handed. Athenean (talk) 07:03, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- If you don't like the "presumably", just leave it out. It is copyrighted. If it was built in 1955, the copyright belongs to the sculptor or his heirs until 70 years after his death. As for the Greek law, check out the commons page on FoP (and its talk archives, where the Greek situation was extensively discussed). Fut.Perf. ☼ 08:23, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- If you mean this discussion [3], it seems to me that it ends without real consensus, Alaniaris' detailed comment notwithstanding. In any case, said image is excruciatingly ugly anyway, I think I have found another one (an ancient sculpture), so this may be moot as far as I'm concerned.
