Now that information has been added, linking to LOC records, we can all be happy. Angus McLellan (Talk) 12:49, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- PD-US is applied, and on the source page, the information regarding the date is '[no date recorded on caption card]'. ([1]). So I don't think we can verify the date. Acather96 (talk) 07:20, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Hmmm, an image of an opera premier from 1914 with a fat guy that died in 1918, and the Library of Congress listing it as "between ca. 1910 and ca. 1915", it should be a no brainer. My rule for myself is always: think twice, then tag just once". --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 07:24, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- I'm inclined to believe that all the photos uploaded by Flanker-B (talk · contribs) are copyright violations. For all photos, the uploader claimed that "It is a picture of my own property, i am an officer of the Colombian navy, ensign rank, im not aware if this image is or is not already on the internet, but it is not copyrighted." Having a photo in one's possession does not make one the author or copyright holder, and if they're not, saying that it's not copyrighted doesn't make it so. The photos are taken in a range of different styles with various cameras ranging from a $500 Canon PowerShot A20 point-and-shoot to a $2000 Nikon D100 DSLR. File:Nimrod ATGM fired.jpg, File:CH-53 firing a nimrod.jpg, File:Iai arava colombia.jpg and File:Colombian kfir c7.JPG have already been deleted as blatant copyright violations. commons:File:EMB 314 2.jpg was deleted from Commons for missing proper source information after having been transferred there, and commons:File:Agm-142.jpg have nap.jpg was deleted following commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Agm-142 have nap.jpg after having been transferred, and the remaining photos that had been transferred were deleted through commons:Commons:Deletion requests/Photos uploaded by Flanker-B on English Wikipedia. - Sourced to the uploader and released under the GFDL and CC-BY-SA, however the subject of the image is a book, and I doubt the uploader holds the copyright. Acather96 (talk) 17:41, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- The uploader is a copyright holder in this image; there is a degree of creative composition etc - it's not just a straightforward picture of the front of the book. All the same the use of the book cover design is not incidental or trivial, so the image does need a fair use justification for that book cover. We don't do a good job of telling uploaders what to do when there is more than one copyright interest in an image. Thparkth (talk) 21:53, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
