- This photograph was taken by me (Zir) in BBC Television Centre Stage 6 Reception and and is my copyright ©. It was uploaded to Wikipedia by me on 20th January 2009.
- The © in its description refers to the word Dalek (and not the image) which was coined by Terry Nation and which I believe the BBC use with the permission of Terry Nation's estate.Zir (talk) 23:29, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- A photograph of a copyrighted 3D design is considered a derivative. As such, it cannot be released under a free license. — Edokter • Talk • 23:40, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- It is works of artistic craftsmanship to which freedom of panorama provisions apply, not merely craftsmanship, and the subject is not an object of that type (see the examples at commons:commons:freedom of panorama#UK). As regards both freedom of panorama and derivative works, it's not immediately obvious to me what it is that makes this image significantly different from commons:File:Nissan Urge Concept Car.jpg or commons:File:Renault Egeus concept car profile-2006-07-21.jpg. - Keep. I see it's been replaced by File:Daleks appearence.jpg on Dalek which would seem to be one step worse, as it's a screen-grab of a © BBC image. If my photo is removed then you will probably have to remove every Tardis and many police box images, as these are certainly © BBC. Worra can of worms! Zir (talk) 08:12, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- TARDIS, probably, unless it's permanently installed in a public place. Police box, no, as it's a utilitarian object and can't attract a copyright. Stifle (talk) 10:22, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- The TARDIS is trademarked, not copyrighted. Also, this isn't e keep/delete discussion; this process is only to established this image's copyright status. — Edokter • Talk • 13:00, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
DeleteI see now that freedom of panoramain the United States (amended 12:01, 10 January 2010 (UTC)) only applies to integral artworks, not free-standing ones,[1]so it is a non-free file. As the file is currently unused, it should be deleted as an unused, non-free file. However, if the licence is changed to fair-use and it is used, then it would be a keep.DrKiernan (talk) 12:39, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]- If marked fair-use, we have two fair-use images, in which case preference should be given to the original. — Edokter • Talk • 13:00, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Commons explicitly notes that, with regards to the UK, "it is acceptable to upload to Commons not only photographs of public buildings and sculptures but also works of artistic craftsmanship which are on permanent public display in museums, galleries and exhibitions which are open to the public," (my emphasis). ╟─TreasuryTag►stannator─╢ 11:52, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On the Wikipedia page Didier Ruef, I am the author of the picture published in the book which I am also the author. I have the full copyright. What sjhall I do to avoid any deletion of the picture?
By the way, somebody deleted on the page two pictures on books which I am the author. I am trying now to resettle the page and takes me lots of useless time.
Please tell me what I shoud write in the file in order to avoid this kind of problem. My email: [email protected]
Thanks in advance.

- The book is probably copyrighted, and the copyright is held by your publisher (unless you retained the rights). That means you cannot (re-)release the cover under a free licence. You should tag the image with {{Non-free book cover}} instead. — Edokter • Talk • 23:47, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete, copyvio. http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/soundgarden/artist.jhtml suggests copyright lies with A&M Records. Amalthea 23:05, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- It can't be own work by uploader: resolution is low, black & white, and the band is clearly standing for a press photo. The band despicted disbanded in 1997, as told by the caption in the article. Even more, I have a magazine from a decade ago that uses this very same image as a poster (it was surely a reuse of a photo took from some other magazine, but it serves to deny the "own work" claim). - Delete, as when the user uploaded it, he provided an external link in the edit summary. Obviously a copyvio. Nymf talk/contr. 14:41, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
