Reupload of an image deleted after a previous PUI listing. Given the uploader's image upload history, as well as the mismatch between the ExIF data and the uploader's claimed creation date, no evidence to believe the uploader owns the copyright to the image. No copyright information provided at source; no evidence of public domain-release. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 01:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- According to the uploader, this is the source of the photo. It cites this page as its source. The "original source" has information about its sources; it's clearly not the copyright holder, but it doesn't say who is.
- I've tried to find copyright information, but the photo was taken after a press conference and there are at least a dozen variations, from slightly different angles with different facial expressions. The "original source" shows two of them.
- I'll keep looking for copyright information for this specific photo, or for a similar photo that has no copyright restrictions. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 02:17, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I've found the photo in two books, The Judas Factor: The Plot to Kill Malcolm X and Malcolm X: The Great Photographs, and both credit it to AP/World Wide.
- The use of the photo in some articles might be okay under a historic image rationale, but it can't be used as a free image. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 07:03, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I concur that the image should not be deleted but that {{Non-free historic image}} templates should be applied. I note at least two articles have non free rationales already on th image page. The image should be removed from other articles where rationales have not been provided. Deletion would not in my view be appropriate given that rationales have been provided. If there is a dispute about the rationales then that argument should be mounted separately but I think they are both significant figures - a photo of them together is significant and in the right article (or articles but not too many) use of the image makes sense. The image probably doesn't need to be in the article Black people.--Matilda talk 21:12, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would this count as freedom of panorama or not, cause this is being specifically used to show the sign. — ViperSnake151 03:14, 14 July 2008 (UTC).[reply]
- I think it would count as freedom of panorama. Despite the overly specific caption (which I am going to change), the real intent of this photograph seems to be to illustrate the Marquee of the hotel/casino. What is on the Marquee is really incidental. IronGargoyle (talk) 21:50, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The originating Web site is dead, and I doubt they had the right in the first place. Good time to re-establish ownership. Adoniscik(t, c) 04:20, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The page listed as a source shows the image with a copyright notice on it. Pages above this image in that webspace don't show anything listing either GFDL or public domain which is asserted by the uploader. -- Slambo (Speak) 13:11, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The page that is listed as a source does not make any mention of the image copyright, pages above it in that webspace imply that the images linked therein are not licensed as the uploader asserts. — Slambo (Speak) 13:14, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Probably a copyvio from somewhere. Original uploader has a track record of copyvios (see upload log here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&user=Oliverdp2003 Can't prove it, but looks fishy. Megapixie (talk) 14:46, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
