The result of the discussion was keep. -- OlEnglish (talk) 17:59, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Is this page useful for any reason? Not much context here at all, just a list of random articles. How is this even historically useful? -- OlEnglish (talk) 02:20, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Delete. The "new topics" on this page were new seven years ago. After deletion, redirect to Special:Newpages.--Metropolitan90 (talk) 05:08, 20 January 2009 (UTC)- Keep as revised. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 03:05, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
- Mark Historical Which it clearly is. It is a snapshot of WP from very early on, and as such is a clearly historical page. Collect (talk) 11:22, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Keep, was useful once for its intended purpose, and it is useful now as a snapshot of Wikipedia's new articles from a certain time period. The page was made before Special:Newpages or even MediaWiki was invented, at a time when the new pages list had to be updated manually. The page history contains a lot more than just two days of new pages, such as this edit; and I even merged in some very old history, such as this revision. If page history had been more reliable in those days, the page may well have been a log of all new pages made during the first year of the project. I actually asked for the page to be undeleted over two years ago. Maybe the page should be replaced with a proper explanation of what it is and how to use it - i.e. by checking out the page history, or using its entry on Nostalgia Wikipedia. - Keep after Graham87's reworking of the page. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 16:55, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- Comment:I've replaced what was previously on the page with an explanation of what the new topics page was and how to use it. I hope this satisfies everyone's concerns. I can think of no reason to delete the page now. Graham87 12:08, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- Keep I added a see also link to Wikipedia:Wikipedia's oldest articles. Crystal whacker (talk) 00:40, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
