Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Credo accounts

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the miscellaneous page below. Please do not modify it. The result of the discussion was Speedy keep, per everyone below. You appear to be very confused as to the purpose of the project. For the future, discussing your concerns on the talk page before coming to MfD is usually a good idea. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 16:10, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Credo accounts[edit]

No matter how you present it, Wikipedia project namspace is not the place to advertise on behalf of the subscription-based online reference content company Credo Reference. Wikipedia project namspace also is not the place to encourage Wikipedian contributors to work at that website. Arrangement by the Wikimedia Foundation for credoreference.com to pay Wikipedian editors to contribute to http://corp.credoreference.com/ by offering a Wikipedian editor one of 400 free Credo Reference accounts does not sweeten the pot. This nomination includes Wikipedia:Credo/header, which is transcluded into Wikipedia:Credo accounts, as well as seeks to terminate the project aspects sought by Wikipedia:Credo accounts. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 15:35, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep and Speedy close: This is not asking people to work there or anything of the sort. The company is donating reference material to Wikipedia, and this page is an attempt to distribute that donation to editors.... This MfD seems rather POINTY to me. —Charles Edward (Talk | Contribs) 15:42, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Seriously? Keep The company is offering to help Wikipedia by providing content editors and reviews with additional resources and this is a bad thing how? This is not advertising (any more than say WP:GLAM/SI meetups with with tours and staff interactions is advertising for the Smithsonian) nor does it have anything to do with working at that website. • Keep Credo are not paying Wikipedians to edit Credo. They are giving Wikipedians free access to reference works. You know reliable sources! So the signup page gets MfD-ed. Facepalm as the kids say. —Tom Morris (talk) 15:49, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • No, no, no, no, no, keep, speedy close. This company is providing reference material for Wikipedia, to improve the encyclopedia, to allow much more content to go in, to improve the quality of articles. And you are proposing to hide this from editors, killing their chances of getting this material and improving Wikipedia? No. Just no. --123Hedgehog456 : Create an account! 15:50, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy Keep people being nice and giving us access to expensive RSes for free is normally seen as a good thing. --Guerillero | My Talk 15:52, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This has got to be just about the daftest thing I've ever seen on wikipedia. Malleus Fatuorum 16:02, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
