The result of the discussion was Non Admin, non controversial snow close. Amusing miscellaneous article with strong support to keep. Off2riorob (talk) 22:28, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, this page is written like government drivel. At the top we have a word by Jimbo saying that nothing in this should discourage a user from discussing issues with him and the bottom discourages the user to do this. This creates mixed messages and should be deleted as it really cancels itself out. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:08, 23 May 2010 (UTC) Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:08, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep It's a user essay and a humourous look at the role of Jimbo in the post-modernist Wikipedia. The King Is Not Dead. -Nard 15:12, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The essay makes a good point and, as long as it's not misused, I see no problem with keeping it. Laurent (talk) 18:33, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong keep It is an essay, and as long as it is not a copyright violation, plagiarism, or libel, is written in language that does not violate WP:CIVIL or WP:ATTACK and has at least passing reference to something Wikipedia related then there is no reason why it should not stay; it does not even have to make sense, if that is the true reflection of the authors opinion. • Comment - essays like this, which express an opinion on how things work around here, should never be deleted (that would be censorship). They should either be corrected, or userfied or marked historical. Hmm. Actually, come to think of it, my position (which has always been that much of the material deleted through MfD should be kept in archives somewhere, as part of the history, rather than deleted) seems now to be that deleting opinions through MfD is a form of censorship, which is ironic if you know what my position is on other matters (essentially, I object to cries of "censorship" being used to stifle debates that are needed). But here, the suggestion seems to be to delete the opinion merely because someone thinks it is badly written. The answer there is to edit the essay and discuss on the talk page what the essay should say. Carcharoth (talk) 19:19, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep and write a six page memo to Jimbo, why it should be kept forever and a day. Justin talk 10:53, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - The comment at the top should be better incorporated into the essay body itself, but the point of the essay is to discourage editors from running to Wales to perform administrative actions on their behalf. It was never to discourage communication or solicitation for weighing in with an opinion. This is much ado about nothing, a non-issue brought up by the same person at varying times in the past. And I am the same person who got Jimbo to actually add the comment to the page. Seems to be working to me. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 16:20, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Would you like a cookie? Tarc (talk) 16:26, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sure do you know how? If you do you can leave it on my talkpage. Thanks I like cookies. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 16:46, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep and tag as Humor instead of Essay. Active Banana (talk) 17:42, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. I previously tried to tone down some of the language as I think it is unnecessarily mocking and will fail to convince its intended audience (i.e. those who are thinking of appealing to Jimbo), but I see no reason to delete it. If consensus begins to swing towards deletion, I will of course make a direct appeal to Jimbo about this outrageous censorship. Fences&Windows 18:29, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
THAT COMMENT IS.....well pretty funny. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 18:35, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
