User:VeryPunny/My Custom Word Association Games[edit]

Essentially per rationale at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Sandbox/test. -- Cirt (talk) 12:53, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also adding these, above. -- Cirt (talk) 12:55, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep since no rationale was given to delete these at the other MfD, I don't see an argument to delete here. IAR was invoked as the reason to delete at the DRV... in which case, why even have an MfD? Games that have the encyclopedia itself as a focus and are not otherwise problematic are fundamentally different from games that have no relation to the encyclopedia. Gigs (talk) 20:55, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all per WP:NOTWEBHOST / WP:NOTMYSPACE. Wikipedia is not a game server for pages that do not contribute to building the encyclopedia. Cunard (talk) 21:48, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all per Cunard. We are not a web hosting service. Sven Manguard Talk 15:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per WP:FUN. Also, the referenced rationale is irrelevant (or unclear). --NYKevin @911, i.e. 20:51, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think we should have some few "games" like this. They are of benefit to editors new to wiki editing. It's good that some find them fun, but it is for their educational value that we want them. The few that I think should be kept probably shouldn't be in someones userspace. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 23:48, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, Wikipedia is not Myspace. Stifle (talk) 08:09, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all per WP:NOTWEBHOST and WP:NOTMYSPACE. DARTH SIDIOUS 2 (Contact) 14:12, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep; encyclopedia-related games are not MySpace-y at all, and certainly not the type of thing that WP:NOTWEBHOST is intended to cover. Kansan (talk) 19:59, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I didn't say it was encyclopedic, but most user pages are not "encyclopedic" per se. (My point is that it's not "Myspacey".) I was looking at one of the other games, and the idea was linking to pages. The game you linked to is still in progress and isn't to that point yet, and my point is that these can be fun ways to discover new pages on Wikipedia. Kansan (talk) 22:36, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep As the new redirects do not have any standing in WP process at MfD. As they are not guidelines or policies in themselves, but editorial comment in the guise of redirects, they have no ability to limit userspace content, which is intended to be for the use of the user. Collect (talk) 10:40, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • WP:MYSPACE is clearly intended to apply to users who spend little to no time editing the mainspace and a large amount of time editing userspace. That does not apply here. The newly created redirects do not change that. --NYKevin @149, i.e. 02:34, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Now I'm unsure [1]. --NYKevin @152, i.e. 02:39, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep and move when the DRV on the out-of-process deletion of the other word association games results in their restoration, move these games to the same location (currently the sandbox, but possibly under WP:FUN in future) and add them to the template and category so more people are aware of their existence. Thryduulf (talk) 16:58, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hesitant Keep (and hesitant move) Per Thryduulf. VeryPunny—Preceding undated comment added 18:25, 30 October 2010 (UTC).[reply]
  • Keep and move under WP:FUN. The result of the Deletion review was to restore. -- œ 13:01, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment The deletion review specifically states that the consensus was to "Overturn deletions without prejudice for future listing(s) at MfD." In addition, the keep view seems to have clung onto WP:ITSFUNNY or WP:ILIKEIT, whilst the delete view cites such guidelines as WP:NOTWEBHOST / WP:NOTMYSPACE. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 04:50, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral On one hand, the user does contribute somewhat regularly to the mainspace, but on the other hand the user spends a large amount of time in userspace (see edit count link above)... and it also matters that the user is new; arguments for both sides can be made (WP:BITE, new users should be allowed to teach themselves; but generally (and I don't know if this is fair) established users get more leeway than new users in userspace). Not sure what to do about that. Changing my original !vote. --NYKevin @156, i.e. 02:44, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
