Another blatant violation of WP:USERBOXES#Content restrictions which states "Userboxes must not be inflammatory or divisive" and "Wikipedia is not an appropriate place for propaganda, advocacy, or recruitment of any kind, commercial, political, religious, or otherwise, opinion pieces on current affairs or politics, self-promotion, or advertising" AusLondonder (talk) 02:34, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as, put aside any political opinions, this userbox is used by several users making it quite common, and this is no different than any other political userboxes. SwisterTwister talk 07:14, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@SwisterTwister: why have you !voted delete to the sinosceptic categories in that case? Secondly how is this category not inflammatory and divisive? Also, it is quite different to having, for example, a userbox supporting lower taxes. This userbox is about withholding human rights from certain people in society. You have additionally made a false statement in suggesting this userbox is used by "several users" and is "quite common". It is used by one editor. • This is getting pretty close to the grey line. A very common and traditional opinion, quite relevant politically across the world, calling it "inflammatory or divisive" is pushing political correctness. On the other hand, revealing political views should be discouraged unless the user sincerely means to do so as a means for self-introduction or as a declaration of COI or bias. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 11:44, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong keep. I'll expect to be crucified for this, and perhaps am playing devil's advocate here, so I'll start out by saying I'm a strong supporter of LGBTQ rights as well as same-sex marriage, and live in a country with a relatively strong record on these issues (Australia). And while I'd agree that userboxes shouldn't be needlessly political, the unfortunate reality is that many are (Category:Political_view_user_templates is a thing), and unless you'd support nuking the entirety of those userboxes, nominating for deletion only the anti-homosexual marriage templates and not the pro-homosexual marriage ones is the definition of hypocrisy. Ultimately, the role of Wikipedia is to not further one's political agenda, pro-LGBTQ, anti-LGBTQ, or otherwise, but instead to serve as a neutral documentarian, and this means equally welcoming the viewpoints of left-wing and right-wing, liberals and conservatives, atheists and theists, and yes, pro-LGBTQ and anti-LGBTQ peoples. Sadly, this isn't even a fringe viewpoint.
As the the famous quote goes, "I do not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." This "nomination", from a Wikipedian who themselves have several political userboxes on their userpage, reeks far too strongly of Thought Policing and POV-pushing for comfort.
