This box pure opinion and links to a external website. I think this box is polarizing and soapboxing and has no place in a neutral encyclopedia. I propose this box be deleted with other boxes with similar content of "this user thinks person x is the most evil person to have ever lived (links to external website)" etc. - PekingDuckman

  • Weak keep. I know of no policy against politically divisive user boxes. As Chairman Mao is both deceased and a major public figure, I don't think BLP policies really apply. PekingDuckman is correct that the box amounts to soap-boxing, but this isn't an article, so some latitude may be allowed. Cnilep (talk) 20:37, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I'm not so much bothered about the box as about the external link. I don't know how prevalent externally linked userboxes are (all the ones I use are purely internally linked), but I feel it not to be a good thing. The box is not one I would use, but if someone feels that way... Peridon (talk) 22:08, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I still think this box should be deleted, or changed to something else eg "This user opposes Maoism"? Because virtually any historical figure can be justified as "The most evil person to have ever existed", and I sure don't want to see any copycat boxes with other figures. And I think the external link should be removed, as it serves as some form of advertisement and not really relevant to user pages. - PekingDuckman
    • I agree with Peridon and PekingDuckman that the external link is inappropriate and should be challenged or removed if the userbox itself remains. Cnilep (talk) 19:01, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:UP#POLEMIC. Tarc (talk) 18:13, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Ironically, I recently read a comment from Jimbo opposed to userboxes unrelated to WP, and was prompted to remove one of mine. However, while he didn't like them, he emphatically was not proposing their wholesale removal (although some have removed boxes citing his position). I wouldn't use this box, but I don't feel it deserves deletion. I'm not happy with the link, but I'd prefer to address linking from userboxes as a general policy, rather than making a one-off decision in this case.--SPhilbrickT 14:38, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep its highly POV, of course, but thats ok for these boxes. i also wish the link could be removed, dont know about this issue, but it immediately makes it into a mini pov article with an external link. these boxes should not have links to promote their point. they just exist, for better or worse. and its a fair political target, unlike, say, a living person, or disparaging a whole group of living people.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 00:51, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep but remove that external link and use an internal link only. Most userboxes displayed in the Gallery relate to outside non-Wikipedia interests and that's perfectly acceptable. EdEColbertLet me know 15:19, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
