User:Knoxskorner[edit]

Wikipedia is not a web provider. Inappropriate use of User page space. Corvus cornix 22:09, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - There's always myspace or facebook for this kind of thing. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 22:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Tenative Given the page is less than 24 hours old, it might be a good faith attempt at drafting an encyclopedia article in userspace before moving it to article space. I can't see the current draft as salvagable material, but I also don't see that anyone has tries talking with the users. Unless this turns around sharply to become a reasonable draft, delete. GRBerry 22:22, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete — fails userpage guidelines. If it's a userfied article, then we'll userfy it properly. --Haemo 22:29, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete — It is pretty quick to nominate it, but at the same time, it seems almost completely unsalvageable in its current state. Wikipedia does not have forums, nor can anyone "own" or set individual rules for pages. Perhaps a misunderstanding of the purpose of Wikipedia? Knox's Korner is, in any event, a real website. Whether it's notable or not, I don't know. But this is not by any stretch an appropriate use of the user space. Into The Fray T/C 22:49, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I've cautioned this user to look over WP:USERPAGE but I'm going to go ahead and say delete, nothing but a social page. SpigotMap 23:11, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What's the problem? It's a user page. It is a well worded and quickly growing article that explains the esteemed members and notable happenings on a popular forum.-ChrisPalmieri90 —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChrisPalmieri90 (talkcontribs) 23:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please review WP:NOT and WP:USERPAGE for the pertinent reasons why such a page is not allowed. Into The Fray T/C 23:16, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Knoxs Korner is a notable site. It is professionally run and has a very large fan-base all over the internet. Perhaps if this is changed to a page for www.knoxskorner.com? - Anonymous — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.98.119.50 (talkcontribs)

In that case, review WP:N and WP:RS and prove its notability. SpigotMap 23:19, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, While it may be an attempt to create an article, it's content seems to be that of a webpage. Also the userpage seems to violate WP:OWN.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 23:18, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Excessive unencyclopedic text in userspace. An article about this web forum would not include paragraphs on individual users as this does. --Alksub 01:40, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, I'm sorry Knoxskorner but this page is just inappropriate —Preceding unsigned comment added by Angel David (talkcontribs) 13:52, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep As ChrisPalmieri90 stated, it's a simple article made by the Knox's Korner Forums member's and maintained by it. Why? For something all the forum members can contribute to, for fun and because it would be nice to have a record of things we have and have done, and could be used as something for new members to read to help them get familiar with the forum. It's no harm and as it's a userpage, it's not a proper article. Why use Wikipedia? Because it's a reliable encyclopedia website which we can all edit, no matter who we are on the forum and whether or not we have an account. Please consider letting it stay. It's not like it's a huge burden on Wikipedia's shoulders, and the page is being maintained by the maturer, responsible members who want to take care of it and not let any nonsense be added. If someone does add nonsense, I'm sure a punishment on the forum could be given since the I.P addresses of the most recent editors are stored on the history tab. Please, Wikipedia folk? • Delete. I now think I understand exactly why this page exists and, yes, it is inappropriate for Wikipedia. It would only be appropriate somewhere else, like within the bandwidth maintained by the forum itself. If I had found this in article space, I would have nominated it for deletion for obvious reasons, mainly its non-encyclopedic nature and the fact that it doesn't meet WP:Notable, and its maintenance here is just a needless charge on Wikipedia's bandwidth. Wikipedia is not a free hosting service. Try MySpace, or make a Yahoo group, or something. Accounting4Taste 16:35, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How about instead of complaining and talking about everything wrong with it, why not help us out and make it more Wiki standard, isn't that what this site is for? Or is it for complaining and deleting?-ChrisPalmieri90 —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChrisPalmieri90 (talkcontribs) 23:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It can not be made to Wiki standard because it fails WP:NOTABLE. It would have to pass that first, then completely written from scratch. This isn't a "Shout out" or "roll call" service, it is for documenting information in an encyclopedic fashion. SpigotMap 23:32, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Delete if you want a webpage, get a webpage. JuJube 23:40, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. The topic blatantly fails all notability standards, and will probably never pass them. Anyway, it's a forum. The people responsible for this article can easily create a similar page on their forum. If they wanted to, they could even theoretically create a wiki on their forum to store this page and similar content. However, Wikipedia is not the place for this type of article. Try MySpace or something if you don't want to host this on your own forum, although you should probably host it on the forum. After all, you say that its goal is to acquaint new users with the forum. What better location for such a page than the forum? You could also try something like PBWiki. But Wikipedia does not store forum material. The fact that a page isn't harming us doesn't mean it shouldn't be deleted. Bart133 (t) (c) 15:37, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well... If you can actually supply a link to where you can get wiki software like this, then I'm sure an admin of the forum's arm could be twisted so that he could install it for us. You've gotta help us if you don't want this stuff on Wikipedia... although I don't see what harm it's doing. user:BlakTornado —Preceding comment was added at 16:30, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
