"a profile of William W. Fitzhugh IV designed to be uploaded and given to him for his 70th birthday" Wikipedia is not MySpace or LiveJournal; this is not appropriate use of our facilities. Orange Mike | Talk 02:21, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Page was created in userspace on 21st December 2012. Page creator has made perfectly clear that this is a draft article intended to be worked on in userspace initially - "I am preparing a new article on my user page". This is an acceptable use of userspace. Draft articles are not deleted from userspace if they are being actively worked on in good faith - this draft was last edited 22nd December 2012. The creator's reason for wanting to create an article on this topic is not relevant - many people are prompted to create articles by forthcoming anniversaries. This is a userspace draft of material intended for mainspace, not a memorial page. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:23, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The subject is notable and is internationally known in his field. A show he curated was the subject of a Time magazine cover story. It would be easier to work on the article on my User page but if that is deemed not acceptable I will work on it offline and then upload. It is not yet ready for viewing by the public. That I am working on this article because of the subject's BD and likely retirement is irrelevant if he is otherwise notable. In any event difficult to determine notability until the article is complete. He is the author of at least ten books on archaeology.
