User:Iich1960/Userboxes/Novorossiya[edit]

“Novorossiya” was a short-lived confederation of two authoritarian Russian puppet states in what is internationally recognized as Ukrainian territory with very poor human rights records that are now the frontlines of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. Keep: Seems fine imo. The box is careful in its wording, in that it supports the self-determination of the state, rather than saying the part is an integral part of Russia (i.e. irredentism). Delete "Novorossiya" was a Russian puppet state. Supporting the "self-determination" of such product, considering the present times, carries some dirty connotations in my opinion. Delete per nomination. The userbox is implying oppression of Russian-speaking minority in Ukraine, and promoting Russian irredentism. Also, as Super Dromaeosaurus pointed out, there are some less inflammatory alternatives to this, like Template:User Donetsk and Luhansk independence (which I myself created by using User:Skybon/Userboxes/Abkhazia and South Ossetia independence as a model). —Sundostund (talk) 13:08, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
