Portal:Presidency of the Philippines (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Portal was last maintained in 2006. Since 2006 Picture of the week has only been updated once, while election data for the month and article for the month have never been updated. Very low value portal. Mark Schierbecker (talk) 10:27, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete – I concur with the analysis by User:Mark Schierbecker:
      • The portal has 5 daily pageviews, as contrasted with 944 daily pageviews for the head article.
      • The content of copied subpages does not appear to have been updated since 2009 except for one change to the DYK in 2016.
      • There have only been five articles associated with the portal, and that is being generous in what is considered an article.
      • The originator of this portal still edits, but has not maintained this portal since 2006. Creating a portal is fun. Maintaining a portal is work. There is no obligation to edit regularly or to maintain a portal, but there is no obligation for the Wikipedia community to maintain unused portals.

  • Comment – The following table compares this portal with Portal:Philippines and one other portal. The conclusion is that merging this portal with Portal:Philippines or redirecting it is not recommended, because Portal:Philippines is another illustration of how the heritage portal design with subpages (content forks) is seriously flawed:
Title Portal Page Views Article Page Views Comments Ratio Percent Notes Parent Portal Type Articles
Manila 3 2560 Originator inactive since 2014. 853.33 0.12% Deleted Philippines City
Presidency of the Philippines 5 944 Originator has not edited portal since 2006. 188.80 0.53% Latest maintainenance has been tweak to DYK in 2016. Philippines Other 5
Philippines 35 12148 Articles are occasionally updated, but only one article and one biography is ever available. 347.09 0.29% Asia Country 15

The national portal was flagged by User:BrownHairedGirl three months ago as needing assessment. It was not assessed until now. I have assessed it and have found it broken. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:49, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nominator. This portal is at best abandoned, tho it might be better to describe it as unbuilt. And it is almost unread.
WP:POG requires that portals should be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers". After 13 year, this one has neither readers nor maintainers, let alone large number of both. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 09:41, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
PS Note the fake DYKs.
Portal:Presidency of the Philippines/Did you know showcases 4 articles, all added in 2006: Ferdinand Marcos, Fidel Ramos, Rodrigo Duterte, Diosdado Macapagal. I have checked the talk pages of each of those articles, and none of them has the bot-added note that they were displayed on WP:DYK.
Per WP:DYK, "The DYK section showcases new or expanded articles that are selected through an informal review process. It is not a general trivia section" ... but this thirteen-year-old list is nothing to do with new articles, and even if had initially been showcasing new articles, after 13 years the newness is long gone. So its only effect is as a trivia section, contrary to WP:TRIVIA. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 09:54, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
