Neglected portal. Strong overlap with Portal:Atheism. One selected article from November 2006, two from April 2007. One selected bio from November 2006, two from April 2007. Mark Schierbecker (talk) 07:15, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

Title | Portal Page Views | Article Page Views | Ratio | Percent | Comments | Articles | Notes | Baseline |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Nontheism | 8 | 185 | 23.13 | 4.32% | Originator inactive since 2006. Very little maintenance since 2006. | 6 | Jan19-Jun19 | |
Atheism | 27 | 2662 | 98.59 | 1.01% | Originator inactive since 2013. Articles selected in 2007, very little maintenance since 2010. | 95 | At least two articles have been blanked. | Jan19-Jun19 |
Portal:Nontheism has only 8 daily pageviews, only 6 articles, and very little maintenance. There is no short-term reason to expect that a re-creation of this portal will address the problems. Any proposed re-creation of this portal using a more modern design, and taking into account the failures of many portals, and including a maintenance plan (since lack of maintenance is a problem with most portals), can go to Deletion Review. - Delete per the nom. This portal has been abandoned for over decade, save small one off updates by passing editors, and is 14 articles short of POG's minimum of 20. It clearly fails WP:POG's requirement that portals should be about subjects broad enough to attract large numbers of readers and maintainers. This abandoned portal has had over a decade of no maintainers and it had an abysmal 8 views per day from January 1 to June 30 2019.
- WP:POG also states portals should be associated with a Wikiproject, but Wikipedia:WikiProject Atheism is best described as dormant (the last conversation among editors was in Sep. 2017, and the only mention of the portal ever on the talk page was in 2006, where an editor excitedly requested volunteers to help fill out the portal, but got no response. Portals stand or fall on their merits in the now, not what could someday hypothetically happen with them, and this one falls flat. I oppose re-creation, as over a decade of hard evidence shows nontheism is not a broad enough topic to attract readers or maintainers. Newshunter12 (talk) 03:56, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
- Delete this junk portal.Catfurball (talk) 21:55, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- Note to closing admin. I don't want in any way to prejudge the outcome ... but if you close this discussion as delete, please can you not remove the backlinks? I have an AWB setup which allows me to easily replace them with links to the next most specific portal(s) (in this case Portal:Atheism), without creating duplicate entries. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:47, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Delete per nominator and per NH12, and oppose re-creation. Too narrow a topic, not maintained, low readership, which adds up to a clear fail of the WP:POG requirement that portals should be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers". --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:48, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
