Narrow music genre portals. Alternative metal has only 4 subcats and only 3 sub genres. Rap rock only has 2 sub genres and no main article shown, only a very small selection of articles. Other pages same issues.

Unhelpful "Do you have a question about Alternative metal that you can't find the answer to? Consider asking it at the Wikipedia reference desk." which is not what the ref desk is really for. The articles are a much cleaner way to explore these topics. German Wikipedia has formed Portal guidelines that specially exclude these narrower music genres as acceptable portals. • Delete All if this MFD is to be closed in a timely manner rather than being suspended by ArbCom. It is not really important how popular each of these genres is. The idea behind their creation was obviously that every genre needs a topic portal, and my opinion is that most genres do not need topic portals, and that any decision to keep any portals can be made individually, either by creating the portals all over (since there was no real work done in creating them) or via Deletion Review. (If that means everything is going to Deletion Review, then maybe that should have been considered before creating thousands of portals.) Robert McClenon (talk) 19:48, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There are many more music genre portals for wide genres - I bundled the ones that are combo genres for lack of a better term. Portal:Country music and Portal:Heavy metal seem reasonable but Portal:Country metal is some combination of the two and unreasonable. Musicians are constantly trying to invent new genre terms to differentiate their sound but that does not make the narrow genre portal suitable. Legacypac (talk) 20:15, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
