Draft:Polycarp Igathe[edit]

Draft:Polycarp Igathe (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

I just gave this page it's 4th decline. Local politician that fails to meet notability standards. Page has various issues but can't WP:OVERCOME so the rest of it does not matter Legacypac (talk) 19:34, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep and Move. I think Polycarp Igathe is notable. Has won the deputy governorship of a county of over 3 million people. Beware Wikipedia:Systemic bias. I would advise the author to add content to existing mainspace articles first, Nairobi County and Mike Sonko before writing a new article in mainspace. In mainspace, other editors will help. Avoid draftspace. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 21:53, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If counties are the 2nd level government in the country, not third level like in the USA and other places, he might pass WP:POLITICIAN and the page passed to mainspace. Legacypac (talk) 03:59, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure of these levels, but deputy governor of a population ranking between Connecticut and Iowa sounds high enough. I still recommend interested authors to add the name Polycarp Igathe, with sourced content, to appropriate articles, before writing a new page. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 04:48, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to mainspace, Polycarp Igathe, this was a missing article. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 19:48, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think the suggestion to start at Nairobi County, which has plenty of capacity for expansion, with a bit of well-sourced coverage is a good one per WP:SUMMARY. Additional sourcing is likely available in non-English language sources. In !vote terms this would technically be a merge, but with lots of cleanup from the current version in draft space. • Keep He's obviously notable. "local politician"? He's the deputy governor of the capital of kenya! It's not even a small county in Kenya, it's the largest (by population). I'd advice atleast looking up what place he is governing (or even just clicking the link to Nairobi county) rather than assuming county means the same in every place. County appears to be the same as a state in kenya, and even if it was not, 3 million people is well, well, large enough to be automatically notable. Galobtter (talk) 05:46, 14 November 2017 (UTC) Move Belongs in mainspace, agree with SmokeyJoe. Galobtter (talkó tuó mió) 06:21, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • In my view Polycarp Igathe is a very notable figure in Kenya and currently he even sits in a task force created by the president of Kenya to regenerate Nairobi.I created this article on him because there was no mention of him on Wikipedia which a lot of people even visiting Nairobi look to for credible information. The former deputy governor of Nairobi was still listed on Wikipedia. If you make reference to the Nairobi Wikipedia page you will see he is mentioned under the government.Kenya has 47 counties,Nairobi is not only one of these counties but also the capital city.So quite notable in my view. @Polycarp Igathe: Just moving the comment here from the talk pageGalobtter (talk) 08:53, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So you wrote your own bio? And now you speak of yourself in the 3rd person? Legacypac (talk) 02:18, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sharon: you should leave your comments here and sign them by leaving ~~~~ at the end of them. Anyhow, yes you should change the account name to something else. See Special:GlobalRenameRequest. (see Wikipedia:Changing_username for the implications of using your real name) Galobtter (talkó tuó mió) 12:59, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry if i may sound rude but how can a deputy governor of the capital city of a country be writing his own Wikipedia page? Surely? I may not have figured out the Wikipedia system but please do not make such assumptions. It is somehow insulting and one would assume you have not looked into who this person is. i WAS HELPING AN EXCHANGE STUDENT WITH HER PROJECT AND THAT IS HOW I RESORTED TO WRITING THIS PAGE ON FIGURING HE IS NOT LISTED ON WIKIPEDIA WHICH A LOT OF PEOPLE COMING TO KENYA RELY ON. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Polycarp Igathe (talkcontribs)

@Polycarp Igathe: Yes it isn't a good assumption. No need to shout. Just wait a few days and the page should stay and I'll move to it to main (article) space. Galobtter (talkó tuó mió) 13:02, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
