Draft:Ethelbert the Whale (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Non notable whale of an article Legacypac (talk) 23:51, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We don't usually have articles on individual animals. This is a WP:NOTNEWS situation. Any coverage is of the "oh look, something unusual happened" variety with no long term implications or impact. This topic would never survive an AfD, and yes we can consider notability in Draft when deciding if a Draft should continue to be worked on. Legacypac (talk) 09:16, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We have lots of articles in individual animals. Most individual animals don't have articles, of course, - that would be silly. That this draft's topic is about an individual animal is an observation - not an argument for or against deletion. What specifically in WP:NOTNEWS do you feel applies here? This certainly isn't routine coverage on sports or celebrities, which seems to be what that section actually discusses. As an event, I think this meets the criteria in the guideline - its coverage spans 85 years. VQuakr (talk) 01:00, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
