PhilKnight[edit]
In the context of some Mediation Committee members leaving, I thought I'd submit my application to join. PhilKnight (talk) 12:55, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Questions from Committee members:
- What are the core principles of Mediation Committee mediation?
- I think the core principles of Mediation Committee mediation are integrity, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Discussions during formal mediation are privileged; they cannot be used against the parties in later proceedings (e.g. RfArb/RfC). Why is that important?
- Formal mediation discussions are privileged to encourage the parties to wholeheartedly attempt to resolve the dispute, without having to worry about whether a remark could be used against them later.
- What prior experience do you have in resolving disputes on Wikipedia? Please provide links, and how will these experiences help you to be an effective Committee member?
- I've been a MedCab coordinator for over 2 years, and have mediated a large number of small cases. I've also been occasionally involved with Editor Assistance, and have participated in content and user conduct Request for Comments, in addition to submitting arbitration case evidence.
Mediation Committee:
- Coming off my wikibreak to support this request. PhilKnight is an excellent mediator who has shown great leadership with MedCab. I'd be delighted to have him on board. Best of luck. Ryan PostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 18:16, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
