Request details[edit]

Who are the involved parties?[edit]

User:Qqqqqq, User:Bolly Nickers‎

What's going on?[edit]

User:Bolly Nickers‎ is unilaterally creating new articles for sections of state articles in the category Vehicle registration plates of the United States for special types of license plates and historical license plates, so far for Vehicle registration plates of Georgia (U.S. state), Vehicle registration plates of New York, and Vehicle registration plates of Connecticut. I have requested that the user wait until consensus is achieved, but the user has not responded to my requests and has proceeded ahead.

What would you like to change about that?[edit]

It is my preference that the information that User:Bolly Nickers‎ is relegating to subarticles remain on the main state license plate pages.

Discussion[edit]

Here is an outside opinion. Category:Vehicle registration plates of the United States has dozens of similar articles. Bolly Nickers is doing nothing new or unusual, and the existence of so many similar articles is evidence that what Bolly Nickers is doing is in accord with consensus. Also, given the large amount of information on the articles created by Bolly Nickers, this user's approach seems appropriate. --Una Smith (talk) 15:41, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for weighing in. However, I'm not really sure I understand your reasoning. The user in question created most of those articles, so I'm not sure how that indicates consensus. Also, I'm not sure that you addressed the actions I took issue with. I do not object to the creation of an article for each state, but rather multiple articles for each state. I checked the links provided by Qqqqqq and find no "multiple articles for each state". Perhaps Qqqqqq is referring to Specialsed vehicle registration plates of Georgia (U.S. state)? If so, what is the problem? Is that article in some way a POV fork from Vehicle registration plates of Georgia (U.S. state)? --Una Smith (talk) 20:33, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Part of the problem seems to be confusion between articles and categories. Here is one relevant category: Category:Vehicle registration plates of Georgia (U.S. state). --Una Smith (talk) 20:38, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This diff by Qqqqqq concerns me. --Una Smith (talk) 02:18, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why? The information on that page duplicated the information found on the main page. It really should just be deleted. Qqqqqq (talk) 02:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We probably don't need mediation anymore, since the users in question seem to be working together better now, with consensus basically achieved. Thanks! Qqqqqq (talk) 02:25, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
