Mediation Case: 2007-01-02 Pastorwayne category creation[edit]

- What's going on?
- User:Pastorwayne has been creating categories at an excessive rate. roundhouse has created lists of his categories preceeding 30 Nov 2006 (available here) and following 1 Dec 2006 (available here). Many of these categories are poorly planned or defy consensus altogether. Consequently, the categories end up in WP:CFD, where they are merged into other categories or deleted altogether. An incomplete list of Pastorwayne's categories that have been merged or deleted in WP:CFD discussions from 1 Dec 2006 onwards is available here. User:BrownHairedGirl has asked Pastorwayne to either seek consensus for his categories before creating them or to voluntarily stop creating categories. Pastorwayne has refused to stop his activities. These activities are becoming disruptive to Wikipedia and are creating a significant amount of traffic at WP:CFD.
- On 2 January 2007, User:Pastorwayne stopped creating category pages themselves. However, he continued to add red linked categories to article pages. According to WP:CAT, this is the first step in a method for creating new categories. Moreover, the red-linked categories still behave like categories.
- On 3 January, User:Jc37 warned User:Pastorwayne that his continued actions are clearly disruptive. Since then, User:Pastorwayne has voluntarily ceased his activities, at least temporarily.
- What would you like to change about that?
- No action is needed at this time. The case was solved by other administrators before it reached the Mediation Cabal.
