Simple unused free, most likely replaced by File:TV-MA icon.svg. — Ирука13 02:02, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Keep and move to Commons. No need or requirement to delete it. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:35, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Where can this image be used in the future? — Ирука13 20:00, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We frequently have different versions of files on Commons, different colored versions, and so on, so this wouldn't be any different than that. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:31, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An excess of non-free images in one article, used primarily for decorative purposes (WP:NFCC#3a + WP:NFCC#8). — Ирука13 13:15, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I removed articles due to lack of references, so i setup a revert to small information of the channels. Just like StarPlus#Associated channels. So, I uploaded Logo of each channels.

  • Relicense all to pd-logo and copy to Commons. Salavat (talk) 08:41, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Relicense all to {{PD-textlogo}} and copy to Commons. All are definitely below TOO in the US; according to c:COM:TOO India, "India seems to have a similar threshold of originality as the US". While the linked paper makes it clear that India's TOO is lower than that of the US, anything higher than sweat of the brow likely covers these logos; a circle with some text is not particularly innovative. File:CherryhDownbelowStation20thAnnCover.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Fairsing (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Cover is used only as decoration in the plot section of the article about the book. As there is already a different cover image used in the infobox, and because this cover is not specifically discussed in a critical commentary about this cover, this is not a valid fair use of the image per WP:NFCI and WP:NFCCP (specifically the "minimal usage" point). ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:33, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File:Deepsea Challenger with fire damage.jpeg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by HouseBlaster (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

The image does not satisfy the first criteria WP:NFCC - visible external damage is easily described by text, images of an undamaged device are already in the article. In addition, this incident is not significant enough to post an image (WP:NFCC#8). — Ирука13 23:15, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Per Connecticut law, and these legal opinions, [1][2], the use of imagery owned by the government of Connecticut is unrestricted, and can be used commercially with derivation. -- 67.70.25.80 (talk) 00:11, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
According to Clindberg's comment on Commons, there is not enough evidence Connecticut government works are freely licensed. Ixfd64 (talk) 22:54, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The incident resulted in the discontinuation of the use of the vehicle in further dives. All planned dives with the vehicle subsequent to the fire damage was cancelled, so showing that the fire damage resulted in the retirement of the vessel, which is clearly significant in the history of the vehicle, as it is no longer an active sub. Before the fire, there was a dive program, after the fire there is no dive program. The image shows the area that was damaged by the fire, which in combination with schematics can show the area threatened by the fire. -- 67.70.25.80 (talk) 00:11, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't like !voting keep in XfDs in which I am the author/uploader/etc., so I will not be doing so here. My thought process was that "the actual extent of the damage was not reported", and thus any attempt to describe it with text would run afoul of WP:NOR. As the event that permanently ended the sub's diving career, I strongly but respectfully disagree that this file fails NFCC8. HouseBlastertalk 22:08, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"A photo posted by state police showed significant black scorching on the vessel's bright-green hull." "Historic Submarine Used by James Cameron Likely Destroyed in Fire: Officials". NBC Connecticut. 23 July 2015. Retrieved 19 October 2015. — Ирука13 22:29, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have no clue how I managed to miss that article. Delete as uploader (and noting for the record that this is not eligible for G7 because someone has !voted to keep). HouseBlastertalk 02:45, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can someone clarify what the problem is? It is a state police photo, yes? no? NBC Connecticut reported on the incident. CT SP posted the photo of the damaged sub, which was carried by AP according to that NBC news report. -- 67.70.25.80 (talk) 05:11, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that we can only use non-free-as-in-speech content on Wikipedia if it meets all ten criteria at WP:NFCCP. Because free content (in the form of text) can be used to replace the image without severely impacting one's ability to understand the damage to the sub, it fails criterion 1 (because "free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose") and criterion 8 (because "its omission would [not] be detrimental to" the reader's understanding of the article, given the damage is described in prose). HouseBlastertalk 05:00, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question for HouseBlaster: Since you're the one who uploaded the image, why is there not a URL of where you obtained the image? All that's stated is that it's from the Connecticut State Police. If what the IP (above) stated is true about content owned by Connecticut state agencies is correct, then the image should be moved to Commons as in the public domain (or a similar free license). ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 17:10, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
