File:Portrait of Christine Oestreicher receiving her Oscar in 1982.tif (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Rubyocean (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

This non-free image is used to illustrate her winning for Best Live Action Short Film at the 55th Academy Awards. That she won the Oscar is adequately described in text and so fails WP:NFCC#1. The image itself is not the subject of significant sourced critical commentary nor would its removal detract from the understanding of the article and so fails WP:NFCC#8. Use of this screenshot in the Christine Oestreicher article is purely decorative. It's removal would not detract from a reader's understanding and so fails WP:NFCC#8. That Christine Oestreicher produced this is adeqautely described by text and so fails WP:NFCC#1. Whpq (talk) 00:52, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe this is the author's own work. The person in the photo, Chris Rogers (jockey), died in 1976. However, the file description says it's from 2007. There's not enough information to determine whether this passes Template:PD-Canada or not. MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:12, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - Based on the uploader's user name, there is a strong possibility that person is related to the subject of the photo, and likely has a physical print of the photo given that the EXIF indicates the photo was created with the scanner from an all-in-one printer. However, possession of a physical print does not mean they also hold the copyright, nor does the act of scanning the photo. Without information about the provenance of the photo, we cannot determine if this is a free license. -- Whpq (talk) 17:55, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Chris Rogers (jockey) died in 1976, but the Wikipedia image's description says it's from 2007. There's no indication of where or when the photo was taken to determine whether this image is in the Public Domain. No search results in Google Images or TinEye either. File:Unconditional warfare.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Underbar dk (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

The file is the book cover of Unrestricted Warfare, and was originally used on the article for the book. But after article merges, it eventually ended up in the current article of Unrestricted Warfare. However, the current article is focused on the concept of unrestricted warfare, instead of the book named Unrestricted Warfare. The cover of the book in fact can only be used to discuss the book itself instead of the subject, and provides little information on "what is unrestricted warfare". The file violates WP:NFC#UUI #9 and generally WP:NFCC#8, and should be therefore deleted. 廣九直通車 (talk) 13:45, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - The Unrestricted Warfare article is about the book, and includes some material about the concept, but the article is undoubtedly about the book, and so the use of this cover is compliant with WP:NFCC#8 -- Whpq (talk) 18:05, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Withdraw My fault. It seems that the Chinese Wikipedia article focuses on the concept instead of the book instead (超限戰是[...]在其所著的同名書籍中提出的概念[...], translation: "Unrestricted warfare is a concept proposed by [... Authors] in their book of the same title [...]"), so I naturally think that the case in the English Wikipedia article is also the same.廣九直通車 (talk) 04:21, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
