Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in The Prince Who Turns into a Frog#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:26, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. Consensus is that using the cover to elaborate on the topic of a section does not satisfy WP:NFCC#8 Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 06:45, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Primeval (TV series)#Music. This file was originally prodded for deletion, but de-prodded by the uploader per here. What's required for this type of non-free use per NFCC#8 is not sourced critical commentary of the album in question, but rather of the album cover art itself as clearly stated in NFC#cite_note-3. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:35, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - As was explained when I removed the prod, this image is being used in the infobox of a section specifically titled "Music" to physically identify the album, which is the subject of critical commentary in that section. i.e. it is not being used purely for decoration. The nom is being somewhat disingenuous in claiming that There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article. The section is Primeval (TV series)#Music. It could certainly do with some expansion but AfD/FfD is not to force cleanup. Note that most of WP:FILMSCORE is completely irrelevant to TV programs, which Primeval (TV series) is, and for which MOS:TV applies. --AussieLegend () 05:46, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm not being disingenuous (at least I don't think I am). As I pointed out above and on your user talk page, it's not necessarily whether the album itself is being discussed, but rather whether the album's cover art is being discussed. Lots of "Soundtrack"/"Music" subsections of articles about films/TV shows do tend to discuss the album, but not many discuss the album's cover art. The main infobox image is used for primary identification of the film/TV show, but simply adding an infobox to a subsection about the music used/featured in the film/TV show doesn't automatically make using non-free cover art OK per NFCC#8 as explained in NFC#cite_note-3 for the same reasons. This is pretty much why non-free soundtrack cover art considered acceptable for film article per WP:FILMSCORE and why the same reasoning can be applied to this TV show article, and actually does seem to be per "Music" in MOS:TVPRODUCTION; moreover, MOS:TV or any local WikiProject guideline doesn't take precedence over a community-wide policy like WP:NFCC per WP:CONLEVEL and further clarified in MOS:TVIMAGE.
If the soundtrack is notable enough for a stand-alone article per WP:NALBUM, perhaps one should be created for it and the cover art then used there (again per MOS:TVPRODUCTION); if critical commentary about the cover art can be found and added to the film's article, then adding it would more clearly justify the file's non-free use in that article.
Finally, by "decorative use", I meant a type of non-free use that doesn't meet NFCC#8, and this one doesn't in my opinion. FFD is the venue where files can be discussed and, like AFD, it's perfectly OK for you or anyone else to try and address the concerns raised above while this discussion is ongoing. The file was uploaded in October 2011 so it seems that there's been plenty of time to try and expand/improve the section about the album and just because WP:NOBODYCOMPLAINED before or took a closer look at the file's non-free use doesn't mean that it cannot now be discussed here at FFD. Can what's written in that section be understood by the reader just as well without the album cover as it can with it? If you feel it cannot, then perhaps you can clarify why. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:22, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - album cover is being used solely for identification purposes in a section of an article about the TV series. There is no significant sourced commentary the cover itself that would justify its inclusion, and its use for identification in a section is insufficient to meet WP:NFCC#8. -- Whpq (talk) 14:19, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This image is claimed to be PD because it made by a US Army employee, but there is no sourcing provided to validate this is indeed the case. The URL provided is a direct link to a JPG hosted on blogspot, and not tot he article that displays the photo. Whpq (talk) 20:24, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
