File:European School logo.png (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by JimMorris (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Non-free logo being used in multiple articles related to European Schools. The logo's use is fine for the main article about the school network itself since that is used as the primary means of identification, but the non-free use in the nine individual school articles fails item 17 of WP:NFC#UUI. All of these individual schools are considered "child entites" of the network much in the same way that an individual school would be considered a "child entity" of a school distirct. In such cases, individual logos for each school is allowed and of the thirteen schools listed in European Schools#European Schools, four do have their own individual logos. The default, however, is not to use the automatically allow the use of the parent logo in cases where individual logos do not exist.

Suggest keep for European Schools and remove from the nine individual schools (European School, Alicante, European School, Varese, European School of Bergen, European School of Brussels II, European School of Brussels III, European School of Culham, European School of Frankfurt am Main and European School of Karlsruhe) lacking their own indovidual logos. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:58, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

*KEEP for all entities in question. The nine uses of the logo in question do not breach item 17 of WP:NFC#UUI. Each individual European School has distinct legal personality, regarded as a public institution with a set amount of autonomy. It is therefore incorrect to view these as soly as child entities, in a classical school/school district relationship. The European Schools are a suis generis entity - nothing like their peculiar transnational setup exists elsewhere. This legal autonomy includes the ability to choose their own logo. Some schools have decided upon derivatives of the "Scola Europea" logo in question, whilst others have adopted unique designs. Still, nine have chosen to adopt the common logo. The use of the non-free logo on these pages is therefore NOT an absence of individual branding as per item 17 WP:NFC#UUI. This is a purposeful choice by each of those schools to adopt the original logo as their own branding, as can be evidenced from their own individual websites. *Keep for all School as does not violate WP:NFC#UUI #17. Some schools have adopted the original logo as their own. They are not schools without branding, as per WP:NFC#UUI #17. — Preceding unsigned comment added by M1chaeljack (talkcontribs) 18:07, 29 August 2017 (UTC)Strike blocked sock, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Euexperttime Sro23 (talk) 17:00, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This icon is currently locally hosted under non-free fair use. However it's also duplicated at Commons under CC-BY-SA.

Is there someone that is experienced with threshold of originality issues, because I am not sure this needs to be 'fair use', given the only element is a b (albiet slightly stylised.) within a simple geometric object? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 07:15, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is claimed to be "free" - by the allegedly by artwork owner - many years ago (probably before OTRS). It has been bot tagged to be moved to commons - it will bomb there. Suggest delete this version and use File:AirCon.gif with a second FURG for the Picture Disc article. Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:39, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
