Wikipedia:Editor review/SoWhy (2)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SoWhy (talk · contribs · count) I'm an editor for almost 7 years now and an admin for 2,5 years. In that time, I have had my fair share of ups and downs, of sporadic and hectic editing, of problems and conflicts as well as happy moments. Unfortunately, even on a collaborative project such as this one, it's not always easy to get the necessary feedback to know whether people still think I'm doing a good job. So after my first ER in July 2008 and my admin review in May 2009 it's high time for a some new feedback. (Yes, I admit I was not very active the last year, studying for my exams took a lot of my time) Regards SoWhy 08:14, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
Over the years, my interests have been varied but I still like to work in WP:CSD.
  2. Have you been in editing disputes or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future? If you have never been in an editing dispute, explain how you would respond to one.
Far too often but I think I was able to deal with all of those calmly and professionally and I strive to continue to do so.

Reviews

I'm not reviewing all of your contributions (30,000 is a lot :P), and I cannot examine your CSDs (I'm not a sysop). However, I'll try to review your more recent contributions that I can see!

I like the way you have contributed a lot to WT:CSD, as it shows that you know and like to contribute to the inner workings of Wikipedia. I have also looked over your contributions to WT:RFA, and have found them to be generally helpful!

I like the way you work on articles, as is evidenced by near 40% article contributions, and, if you include sections relating to articles (template and talk namespaces)

I see you contribute to the MediaWiki namespace. Thanks for keeping the site up!

I went over your most recent DYK, and I'll have to whack you hard for it. This entire paragraph: "She was a candidate on Let's Dance with former professional dancer Oliver Seefeldt as her partner in 2006. On 30 June 2007, she and Seefeldt won the German Eurovision Dance Contest-preliminaries and they entered the 2007 contest together, reaching the 8th place." is totally unreferenced. Additionally, the sentence before it also has an unreferenced claim: "[Afterward], she mainly starred in TV films." I would recommend re-reading Wikipedia's guideline on reliable sources. However, your DYK from August 2010 was much better. Back to the other hand, your February 2010 DYK contains another minor unreferenced claim: "In 1952 he co-founded the All-German People's Party with Gustav Heinemann and other like-minded politicians." Andreas Rebers, another of your DYKs, contains another unreferenced claims about (probably) living people. While not contentious, per WP:BLP, Such material requires a high degree of sensitivity, and must adhere strictly to...Wikipedia's three core content policies: 1) WP:NPOV, 2) WP:V, and 3) WP:NOR.

On a more positive note, I appreciate the way you are helping a newbie right now on your talk page. A perusal through your talk page archives reveals more of the same. Keep up the good work!

Finally, good work on preparing DYKs for use on the main page. You definitely do a lot of that!
