You've made many good solid contributions. Your contributions to Buffalo, New York related articles, and (as you note below) various nautical related articles is especially strong.

I also see many good minor edits and gnomish cleanup work, this is the mark of someone who holds Wikipedia's interests at heart.

I see that you contributed many good photos to Wikipedia last year, something we need more of, thanks. I wonder why you have stopped?

I also note that you have been working hard at welcoming newcomers to Wikipedia, as part of our WP:Welcoming Committee.

You have also been extremely good about commenting your edits. (Much better than me I confess) You comment on all your edits, and the comments (although sometimes a bit terse) appear consistent and accurate. Kudos!

I note the disagreement you (and most editors there it seems) are having with LtPowers. It is good that you are all standing up forcefully to someone pushing against consensus. However, your responses aren't as polite as could be. Although that is understandable given the provocation, it's probably a good idea, while still standing up forcefully to POV pushers, to be exceedingly polite.

One part that is lacking, is that you do not seem to spend much time on various noticeboards, like AfD, RfC, RSN, ANI, and other meta stuff, like the various policy pages. If you want to go for admin status, I would suggest that you familiarize yourself with the issues by participating in the various noticeboards, and by watching the guideline and policy pages, and participating in the talk there.

Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
Most of my time has been invovled with ship or shipwreck related article, however, I do work on many other types of articles that I find interesting. In the area of articles I would have to say Edward M. Cotter (fireboat), which I helped move to GA status, and the SS Canadiana which was a start class article. I've had no training in creating templates, however, with some study and practice I was able to create Template:Infobox Prepared Food which helped fill a need. Another template, Template:Infobox Windmill, I helped another editor to create as well.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
No real conflicts over editing, but I've been thin skinned a couple of times over editors comments such as Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2009 June 12 #Image Place Holder.png and Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts/archive65 #User:Kaldari. In the future I've decided to learn from the things that I found stressful and be careful in my own comments to others. Also, I'll wait longer before responding and sign off if necessary. (I may indulge in a frosty beverage as well.) :)
