Review by Moonriddengirl[edit]

Hi! I know you. :)

Nevertheless, I looked through your user page, your talk page & your contributions dating back to the beginning of November. It confirmed what I expect: you are an experienced, established editor quite good in the areas in which you choose to focus. Your article work is great, of course. Your user page is also pretty. :) You maintain civility in your conversations with others, work well towards consensus and are obviously motivated to collaborative improvement of the project. While you're currently not doing much AfD, what I see is generally quite good. You demonstrate familiarity with policy, as here, and seem fully aware that AfD is a discussion and not a "!vote & run".

There was one note on your talk page that was a bit confusing to me, since I don't know the context. That concerns allegations of a cut & paste move, here. A cursory overview of your correspondence & the page history doesn't enlighten as to whether you were involved in making one or not, and given your obvious competence I didn't put a ton of time into it. I'll just say that if you did do a cut & paste move, I'm sure you've since familiarized yourself with why cut & paste moves are undesirable. I would also not be surprised if it was a misunderstanding and no cutting & pasting, in the traditional sense, took place.

I usually feel it imperative on me to offer suggestions for improvement in these reviews. The best I can find to offer here are not problems that need fixing so much as an alternate perspective on your approach in one case and a suggestion for how to potentially even further elevate the quality of your contribution.

First, while I like your interactions with other editors, I wanted to talk about the wording of your original note at User_talk:CBFan#Enough. I do not believe you mishandled the situation. In spite of your bluntness, you were not uncivil. But I personally think that dealing with bitey editors at least initially benefits from exceptional civility. Setting an example, so to speak. :) To that end, I would suggest that instead of "you are displaying a complete lack of maturity when dealing with other users", you might have gone for an equally stern "your dealings with other users are unacceptably inconsistent with Wikipedia's policies". That stops short of suggesting that the editor is immature, while still firmly thwacking his hand with a verbal ruler. This, obviously, is utterly a matter of opinion. In the interest of full disclosure, I must note that I am excessively diplomatic and am much more likely to cajole on first approach with a "Hey, it's great that you're looking out for article quality, but it's better to do it THIS way." I cannot say that cajoling is any more effective than thwacking at behavior reform. :) This is not in any way a criticism; it is simply an alternative view. I'm sure that many people presenting an alternative view of my approach would tell me to toughen up, so take it for what it's worth.

My suggestion for how to turn your good contribution into great contribution concerns two of your notes at AfD, here and here. It's not required, but certainly commendable to go above & beyond, so if you are able to supply the references rather than note a certainty that they can be supplied, all the better. :) It takes a few extra minutes, but they are generally minutes well spent. And it is highly satisfying to personally save an endangered article. :D

I wish that I could give you something more substantial, but primarily my notes come down to "Nice work". I think you're a great Wikipedian. Keep it up. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:29, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
See User:Sephiroth BCR/Accomplishments for the specific articles. I've concentrated primarily on lists, with anime episode and manga chapter lists being my primary focus. That said, I do contribute a lot to video game articles, and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (currently a FA) and Characters in Castlevania: Sorrow series are two particular favorites. Other than that, I use Twinkle frequently for vandalism reverting, which I find aplenty of in the articles I usually edit, which include articles relating to the Naruto and Bleach manga and anime series.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I've never really been stressed out per se. I've attempted at all times to be civil, and this has averted any potential problems.
