Prelate Zeratul[edit]

Prelate Zeratul (talk · contribs) I know that I'm a very new user (about a month), but I discovered this today and am interested. I may consider becoming an adminisrator sometime when I get more experience. I'm currently involved in WP:ADOPT, and discovered WP:AN, WP:RFA, and WP:AIV about a week ago and occasionally take a peek at those. Most of my contributions so far have been on StarCraft-related articles, but I intend to work on articles needing cleanup when I'm finished this. • You have very few edits in the mainspace, especially compared to your edits to your own userspace. The draft that you have written up currently reads like a game-guide and needs significant cleanup. I think it'd be best if you reviewed WP:V, WP:NOR, and WP:CRUFT to help with some of your article contributions. For example, lots of the Starcraft storyline articles are basically retelling the story of Starcraft without actually citing sources or providing encyclopedic content. My best advice would be to practice cleaning up some of the existing Starcraft articles seeing as that's what you're heavily involved in. --Wafulz 21:52, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take your advice. But what parts of my draft are game-guide like? I thought I did an okay job. If you could just show me, I'll correct things like that. Thanks :D Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 16:36, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, from the looks of it, it'll probably be deleted based on being an indiscriminate list of information. There's really no way to take an article like this and make it not seem like a gameguide. Think of it this way- encyclopedia articles cannot be based inside of fictional worlds. The only way an article can exist is if it is grounded in the real world. By default, a list of anything from video games is going to be set entirely within the game's universe. Basically, an article has to be based on its real-world significance, and a listing of units or items from a video game will, in all likelihood, be deleted if it is made into an article. There might be a gaming wiki that would accept your information though. I can provide exampls of similar articles that have been deleted, if you'd like. --Wafulz 22:31, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • You may want to consider simplifying your signature. It's a lot of stuff, and there's no link the "En Taro Adun" part.--CJ King 22:38, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Well, I've mostly been active on User:Prelate Zeratul/List of units and buildings in StarCraft, and when I'm done, I'm sure I'll be proud of it. I also intend to rewrite a lot of StarCraft articles (the storyline in particular), and I have no doubt that that task will turn out well.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Since I'm relatively new, I've never had any conflicts with users before. I generally see other users as helpful and productive, at least until proven otherwise. If I do have a conflict, I intend to solve them civilly, and not get into childish name-calling, personal attacks, etc.
