Nauticashades (talk · contribs) My first edit on Wikipedia was on April 3rd, but I only really started editing in early September. Since then, I've reached 2000 edits, of which 500 are mainspace and 830 are Wikispace. I feel that I have worked in various areas in Wikipedia, and all of them were rewarding, but my main love is images. Only the best encyclopedias have high quality images to illustrate them. I frequent WP:FPC (in which I promote and delist pictures regularly) as well as adding Commons images to Wikipedia articles and vice-versa. Mainly, I want to know what I am doing well, what I am doing badly, and what I should be doing. NauticaShades 16:39, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

  • Hello. Well, you seem like a very promising editor. I've checked your collaboration with WP:FPC and you really seem to provide balanced/accurate comments about the candidate pictures. In fact, your participation in the image space is growing rapidly, and if you start tagging images for copyvio then you'll be striding to become a much needed image-experienced administrator. I'm not sure if you intend to become an administrator though. If you do then you may also try to be more active in admin-related areas such as WP:XFD and countervandalism (this is my usual advice on editor reviews). In your case I believe that tagging images for deletion would be a big bonus for your eventual RfA. Your contributions to the mainspace are also commendable, more than one fourth of your current edit count. I don't have many recommendations really as you're doing a very good job. But perhaps you could try to bring your edit summary usage for minor edits to close to 100%. That is all. Happy editing. Regards.--Húsönd 00:28, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks for the review. Actually I am currently working getting the minor edit summary usage to 100%, so I'm glad you agree. As for the copyvio image tagging, where is a good place to start for that? I have done some work for Wikipedia:Untagged images, but I don't think that's the same. • Well, images are not my speciality. I could not find a place where recently uploaded images are listed, like the new page patrol. Wikipedia:Untagged images might be a good place then for the copyright tags. Regards.--Húsönd 16:15, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I see you moved fast to fix vandalism on an oft-vandalized page here [1] and then moved back to tidy up remaning vandalism here. [2]. Nice work. Don't quite know how you noticed this backwater of Wiki, but the vigilance is welcome.--Mantanmoreland 23:26, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I would say the the contributions of which I am the most pleased is my continual work to get Encyclopædia Britannica a Featured Article. Although it is not one yet, I think it will one day will be. Other than that, I have created two non-stub articles, Collège Calvin and Baptistry of Parma. I have done some work for WikiProject Stub Sorting and I created the scope template for WikiProject Books. I also am a member of the Esperanza Barnstar Brigade, which I proudly contribute to regularly. Finally, as mentioned above, I close nominations at Featured Picture Candidates, which helps the process run smoothly and keeps the FPC page uncluttered.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I haven't been in any real conflicts or edit wars. I suppose that the closest I ever got to one was over articles for songs composed by George Martin for the Yellow Submarine film. Kingboyk made them all redirects for Yellow Submarine (album), and a few revers ensued. However, this matter was quickly sorted on the WikiProject Beatles talk page, and they now remain redirects.
