Michaelkourlas[edit]

Michaelkourlas (talk · contribs · count) I have been editing Wikipedia for a while with one other account (User:VBKid) and IP addresses (the one that I remember was User:72.139.74.72) but only just started really getting into it and trying to follow proper Wikipedia policy. As I approach 1200 edits, I'd just like to know how I'm doing so far. I'm thinking that one day, when I have enough experience, I might submit a RfA. Reviews

  1. Hey, Michaelkourlas. I am going to review you. The first thing I noticed about you is that you made a bot. That is absolutely wonderful. Bots make Wikipedia a better place, and I truly think that any bot (big or small) can make a difference. One thing I noticed about you is that you did not put any wikilinks in the article Sacred Music Society. Wikilinks easily direct users to other places on the site, and they are pretty important. I see that you have around 1366 edits, 41.80% of which are article edits. That's pretty good. I see that you have been taking advantage of using Huggle, which is what I did when I first discovered the world of Wikipedia. With 47.23% of your edits being automated, I think it's too early to find out if you are understanding with all of Wikipedia's policies. I see that you try to put summaries on all of your edits, and that is good. Keep doing that. As you said, you have rewritten the Windows Product Activation article. Your really did an outstanding job on that! I would suggest that you start writing some more articles. You might even want to look into something called Do You Know (DYK). If you click on the link, you will find out all about it. I see that you can program in Visual Basic, and I think your knowledge will someday benefit Wikipedia as a whole. You might also want to start patrolling new pages. Just keep up the good work! Btilm 03:35, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
I have done quite a bit of vandalism reversion and editing random articles for grammatical mistakes. I also have contributed two new articles (Whose War Is It? (book) and Rockcliffe Parkway). I also have rewritten the Windows Product Activation article and the Sacred Music Society article (partially).
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I haven't had any of those problems so far, although I have talked often with people over my new bot and its approval process (User:MichaelkourlasBot).
