  • I've had a number of interactions with Eco during his and my time on Wikipedia. He seems eager to learn how to improve his Wiki skills and has shown to be a dedicated article creator. Always willing to help with translating articles created in Portuguese TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 17:36, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've seen you around, and you've likely seen me, but as for watching you work and such, I lack any experience. But, perusing you contributions and other records, your edits are useful and look good to me. Also, if you translate articles for pt.wiki (or any non-en.wiki sites), then you are already in my eyes as a good editor. We need more translators, and you are helping on that front. As for en.wiki business, you have a great number of DYK's, and your work around AfD (where I've seen you most) is great; we generally share an like opinion on those issues. Overall, great work, and I hope you keep it up. Happy editing, Leonard(Bloom) 21:13, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Clarification I greatly appreciate the kind comments, but I need clarify that I have only translated a single article to date -- from Portuguese into English. That is not my primary focus, and I am not part of the Portuguese Wikipedia project. I am primarily concentrating on creating content, CSD and AfD, and early-stage anti-vandalism fighting (Level 1 and 2 stuff that pops up when I do New Page Patrol and Welcoming Committee greets). Thanks! Ecoleetage (talk) 21:29, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ecoleetage is a nice editor who is open-minded and interested in the opinions of others. Here are some suggestions: regarding [1], please see Wikipedia:Potential, not just current state; regarding [2], please be sure to use edit summaries (indicate if you're arguing to keep or delete in your edit summary or if you're making a comment, reply, etc. so that those who have it watchlisted know what the new edit is about) and see WP:PERNOM; regarding [3], please see WP:PERNOM; regarding [4], please see WP:JNN as well as the closing rationale and you may also want to check the WP:Notability talk page as serious revisions are being discussed by a large number of editors; regarding [5], please note that we really only speedy delete if it's a copy vio, libel, or hoax, but not when it's something various good faith and established editors are actively trying to improve; regarding [6], I understand you are trying to be creative/witty, but again please see WP:JNN and the ongoing discussions on the notability talk page, but the main thing is that you need to say why something is non-notable or how it fails our policies that it cannot be improved and is so detrimental to the project that it has to be deleted now; regarding [7], please keep in mind that Wikipedia:Wikipedia is a work in progress, so of course many articles will not be in a completed status and as far as the tone of the article, please do not hesitate to be bold and revise it in such a fashion that makes it more encyclopedic; regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Canyon of the Vaginas, as you can see I agreed with deletion and so did the closing admin, but it might not have been a hoax as indicated so please do be sure to return to discussions when someone claims sources and reply them either to say "okay, but it still fails are notability guideline" or to say "well, maybe it should be given a chance"; and regarding [8], what do you make of this discussion? Otherwise, good arguments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Celebrations of the September 11, 2001 attacks (2nd nomination) (it is helpful that you don't simply comment, but also make a suggestion), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/I, Claudius (film), and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Knights Templar and popular culture (2nd nomination). Anyway, I hope that helps! If you ever feel like offering suggestions to me, please see the relevant section of the talk page for User:Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles/Deletion discussions. --Happy editing! • Prior to running into you at the Richard A. Houghten AfD I had no idea how WP:DYK worked. I had just assumed that people picked them from random. Thanks for giving me an insight into that little facet of wikipedia. Protonk (talk) 02:41, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ecoleetage is a very good editor. He has created many articles. 29 articles created or significantly expanded by Ecoleetage has appeared in the DYK column. Few people can achieve that. He should be an admin. Masterpiece2000 (talk) 05:27, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Edits like this on an article about 2 seconds old are poison at Rfa; I don't believe you are nearly ready yet, though congratulations on the DYKs. Johnbod (talk) 21:21, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment For the record, the above comment came from the author of the article in question -- which was online for four minutes, not two seconds (check the full history of the article). And whenever I put new articles online, I always have a solid foundation that includes references and external links, which the original version of this article clearly did not have (you can double check the history of the article's creation, along with the very rude comment by the article's author who violated Wikipedia rules by removing the Speedy Delete tag from his article). Ecoleetage (talk) 21:30, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are I think allowed to remove speedy tags if they are clearly completely inappropriate, as this one was. It concerns me that Ecoleetage still seems not to see how wrong his edit was. Johnbod (talk) 21:45, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but the original article that I tagged had no context, no references, no external links -- no nothing, if you will. I stand by my original decision and I invite anyone to check the article's full history. And I will also point out that after the initial posting here (now that the article is starting to get something resembling structure), I added a WikiProject Christianity template to the article's Talk Page. It appears to be a very interesting subject and I am eager to see how its author will present its contents. Ecoleetage (talk) 21:51, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You used the tag for "Very short articles lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article" when the article already very clearly identified the subject. No excuse. And note that User:LAAFan had already tagged it as unrefed (fair enough) a minute before you, but did not add a notability or speedy tag. Johnbod (talk) 22:13, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Last word...Johnbod. Oh...last word, me! :) Ecoleetage (talk) 23:07, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I first encountered Eco when he gave me a barnstar, which is a testament to how kind he is. He is a hardworking article builder (with 35 DYKs-I thought me doing 30 in 6 months was fast!) Also, his new page patrol and votes in AfD are both top notch. I have had two minor problems with Eco's editing in the past, but I think he has learned from this and I think Eco is ready for adminship. Eco, could you also review me? --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 10:43, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Eco reviewed me; i'm just pointing this out so people don't assume it's a "you scratch my back..." scenario. I've been interacting with this editor for months now, and he's both friendly and an excellent contributor. I'm not going to go "ooh, go for admin!" not out of spite but out of project-preserval; if you occupy your time with admin tasks you'll no longer be able to create fantastic article content as you've been doing :P. Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I've helped several writers restore articles that were deleted (unfairly, I believe). Knowing that I could be of assistance in putting their work back online gave me a great degree of pleasure.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
For the first question: yes on both counts. For the second question: I turn off the computer and go outdoors.
