Alex9891 (talk · contribs) I have been editing now for just over 3 months, and have made just over 4000 edits... I would like to know how I am doing. Also, I am considering requesting adminship sometime in the next two months, so I would appreciate your thoughts on how I could improve in order for it to be a successful request. Thank you for your time. --Alex (talk here) 16:07, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

  • 4,000 edits in three months is amazing - good work! Since you appear to do a lot of vandal-fighting from looking at your most recent edits, you should take care to always warn users that you revert: they're often just getting the feel for Wikipedia, so it's important to avoid accidentally biting them. A good tool is the list of tags at Template:TestTemplates: always start with the lowest tag (so, a caution rather than outright warning, and so on) and make sure to pick the right one. In the case of newly registered users who've been vandalising (as happened here), add {{subst:welcome}} to their talk page as well. This will help get your user talk count up, and can go a long way toward preventing future vandalism. Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 03:24, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hi, thank you for your review. What do you think about an RFA? --Alex (talk here) 11:31, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • Hey, no problem. Personally, I'd be happy to support you in an RfA based on what I've seen of you, but you should be aware that people generally disapprove of candidates with less than around 4-6 months' solid experience, no matter how many edits they've made in that time. So, I think you'd do yourself more justice by waiting another month or two before starting an RfA, since if it does fail you won't be able to run for even longer. Just give it some more time, and keep up the good work until then. :) Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 23:34, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
        • Thanks, I expect I'll be self-nominating (or otherwise) sometime within the next two months. --Alex (talk here) 23:37, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
All of them really - particularly helping out on the Big Brother articles, reviewing afcs, afds and rfas, and reverting vandalism. I also enjoy welcoming and helping out other users.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Nothing major, but various IPs sometimes have a problem if I revert their vandalism and leave me a message. If they aren't civil I tend to ignore it, but I will usually reply and say why I reverted.
