AdelaMae (talk · contribs) I have been editing for over a year now, and I have recently begun to branch out into interacting with foreign-language Wikipedias. (I have accounts on el-wiki, es-wiki, and it-wiki.) I don't intend to ever be an administrator here, but I would like to hear any feedback you have on my editing so far, and I want to make sure that my editing style is such that I will give people a good impression of English Wikipedia. - Hi AdelaMae, looks like you're doing a great job. You have a good number of mainspace edits, and your wikipedia and wiki talk counts are quite high. You also have a good number of talk edits, showing that you probably discuss changes well. The talk edits I looked at were quite thorough and well reasoned explanations for why you were doing something, so this is good. Your talk page suggests that you're friendly with other editors, since no one seems angry in the discussions I looked at, and some thank you for helping them, etc. I found no evidence of incivility, even in a mediation you were involved in. Not only are you friendly in the edits I looked at, you work hard around here, making major contributions and doing your homework (finding sources, etc). I'm impressed that you started a wikiproject, too. It doesn't look like you revert much vandalism, but I don't see that as being a problem in light of the rest of your contributions (especially since you're not interested in adminship). When you do revert vandalism, you don't leave warning templates on the user's talk page in the edits I noticed. I suggest leaving them because it can deter further vandalism or at least can expedite the process of forcing the vandal to stop by allowing them to be blocked more quickly. Another minor suggestion: you might want to get rid of the Wikipedia:Esperanza link in your signature now that it's disbanded. You're a stickler for proper referencing, which is good. I looked at the writing in some of your more major contributions and it looked fine in terms of style, etc. Excellent use of edit summaries. Good job welcoming new users. Basically, you're awesome. - Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- Without a doubt, the creation of WikiProject Neopaganism. I thought it would stay on my user subpage forever and I've been amazed by the number of people who are now listed as members. I think having a WikiProject has enabled us to keep much better track of new articles in what might otherwise be a dusty and largely unverified corner of Wikipedia. The paganism-stub template has been very useful as well, and the project is gradually growing these stubs into full-fledged articles.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- My one answer to this is Wikipedia:Requests for comment/65.182.172.x. My very first registered edit threw me, unknowingly, into the fray with an anonymous user who has since been blocked. Though I believe I conducted myself with courtesy and respect, I did let this conflict stress me out quite a bit, especially when the RfC was active and when the user posted a diatribe about me on his blog. Still, I'm glad that I went through with it and I think that bringing the matter to other editors' attention was helpful not only to the editors involved but also to the integrity of the Wikipedia. Honestly, now that I've been through something like that RfC, I think I'm pretty hard to faze. I give people the benefit of the doubt and I know that if I get upset, I always have the option of stepping away from the computer. I didn't edit this summer while I was in the hospital, and Wikipedia was still here when I got back. :-D
