I was trying to clean up the grammar and correct mistakes in the first paragraph on the page. There were grammatically incorrect and confusing parantheses within parantheses. There was non-parallel sentence structure adding to the confusion. And there was a simple mistake where the wrong translation was offered for the word χθών, even though it had been correctly translated in the preceding sentence.

This is my version of the text:

Allochtoon (plural: allochtonen) is a Dutch word (from Greek ἀλλόχθων, from ἄλλος [allos] other and χθών [chthōn] soil/earth/land), literally meaning "emerging from another soil." It is the opposite of the word autochtoon (in English "autochthonous" or "autochthon"; from Greek αὐτόχθων, from αὐτός [autos] self/same and again χθών [chthōn] soil/earth/land), literally meaning "emerging from this soil."

A claim I know I was taught in my US-based education and reading is that, in the very early days after the first flight (e.g. the first few weeks/months, perhaps until January or February 1903) there was doubt among many in Europe as the validity of the claims that some bicycle-building hicks from America had really done it. Such doubt is totally rational and I can't blame them for it, but in retrospect you could categorize it as "laughing" at them. Whether such doubt truly existed, I do not know. Incidentally, even in the US there was friction with regards to their claim; as our article notes, for decades after their first flight The Smithsonian refused to acknowledge it as the first, instead preferring the work of their former secretary Samuel Pierpont Langley; it was not until 1942 that The Smithsonian softened their tone, and it's a small wonder (and a testament to just how important The Smithsonian is in American History) that the Wright Flyer ended up with them at all!

Alexander Pines invented a ground-breaking NMR technique referred to as PENIS (Proton Enhanced Nuclear Induction Spectroscopy). On his wikipedia page, it lists no mention of the acronym, which Pines coined himself. When I tried to include the acronym, it came up as a false positive for a flag.

Earlier this week I went to read about a great musician that I saw at a concert at a theater. We spoke after show and he mentioned he had been with a band I liked years ago. When I looked him up on Wikipedia, he only had one small paragraph mentioning that he was a former member of Pain of Salvation and that he now was a solo artist. After spending a few afternoons reading over ten years worth of articles, reviews and interviews about the artists 25 year career, I decided to add all that information to his Wikipedia page. I shared it with friends who told me I had to add citations and I should make the format in chronological order. Since it was my first and perhaps only experience with Wikipedia I wanted to do it perfect. So, I just spent three hours adding hyperlinks and citations and when I went to save it I got a big red box with a note that I used emoticons or something and I was not allowed to do that. So, I looked at document, it looked perfect to me. So I went to wikipedia help forum, and they told me to tell my story on this page and that you could go in and save all my links.
