Copyright investigations (manual article tagging)[edit]
- David A. Huffman (history · last edit) from http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=331626&dl=ACM&coll=DL&CFID=32752945&CFTOKEN=73203898 and http://www1.ucsc.edu/currents/99-00/10-11/huffman.html (see talk). Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:25, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- I reported this problem to Moonriddengirl, and did a more detailed investigation of the different contributions. I can send an excel for those interested. Based on this, I started the rewrite in Talk:David A. Huffman/Temp. But this is not finished yet.
- The investigation took a bit more time than anticipated. Can the rewrite before merge be extended for a few more days?
- Also I investigated the potential backwards copy of the biography section against http://www.computer.org/portal/web/awards/huffman. I don't know how far Moonriddengirl was with this, but I think this is indeed a backwards copy. The first separate section Biography was made by User:Ghepeu on Febr 12, 2006, and the version most close to the IEEE Computer Society version was updated by User:75.62.233.38 on Febr 1, 2009 (except for one word in the last sentence).

- Update on current temp version: it is good enough to move back to the main article space. The work is not finished but I will (or others can) update more rewritten content in the future.
- Update on potential backwards copy of http://www.computer.org/portal/web/awards/huffman. I found now when this webpage was an exact copy of the previous "Biography" section in our David A. Huffman article: User:Piano non troppo removed on March 1, 2009 the word "own" in the last sentence. The biography section was untouched till May 7, 2010. So the copy happened between this dates. Can somebody with more experience confirm the backwards copy? Is this marked or noted somewhere, or do we need to add this in the Talk page?
- Potential new copyvio? The previous section "Proposal of Huffman codes" contained a large quote from an Oral history interview with David Fano added by User:TheBofi on June 12, 2009. Is this still within the boundaries of fair use as mentioned here? If not this revision needs to be deleted too (besides the first article revision of User:Saghmos on December 7, 2001).
- As suggested by Moonriddengirl, my rewrites in Talk:David A. Huffman/Temp (I started from the non-copyvio version left by Moonriddengirl) can be merged with the old article, to keep the attribution of the old editors.
- Article cleaned by investigator or others. No remaining infringement. All seems absolutely in order. :) History merge complete. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:33, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

- Secret chambers of Padmanabha Swami temple (history · last edit) from http://www.khaleejtimes.com/DisplayArticle09.asp?xfile=data/international/2011/July/international_July95.xml§ion=international and possibly other sources. It has many authors so it's quite complicated, despite being a young article. Dcoetzee 10:41, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- Article redirected to a non-infringing target. I redirected to the main article on the temple where there was substantial coverage of the temple's treasure. It appears recent press reports spurred this new 'mysterious' article as well. There was a copyvio problem with one Hindu Times source in the article's initial revision as well. Rev del' needed as well.--NortyNort (Holla) 11:19, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

- Cinetic rights management (history · last edit) from http://www.cineticmedia.com/?q=node/7, http://gigaom.com/video/cinetic-does-digital-for-indie-filmmakers/. MikeWazowski (talk) 17:32, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- Article cleaned, still needs a history purge to remove original copyvio. --NortyNort (Holla) 11:32, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- There's more in some of the other sources - "One of FilmBuff's main goals ..." [1], and "CRM forged an output deal with Amazon ..." [2]. Wondering whether there's more and if we should delete at this point. January (talk) 13:03, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- So deleted.--Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:23, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
