Nominator's rationale: WP:C2B, compare Category:Lists of countries in beauty pageants and its items List of Miss World countries etc. and Template:Miss World countries and territories. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 22:41, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: WP:SUBJECTIVECAT - "dogmatism" is mostly a label philosophers apply to other people who they feel are overly stubborn or insufficiently skeptical of their own beliefs, rather than referring to a specific set of people with a distinct ideology - car chasm (talk) 18:16, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Assassinated presidents by continent. (non-admin closure)LaundryPizza03 (d) 05:05, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: We generally hold North and South America at the same level as other continents. – Fayenatic London 08:45, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Games for Windows. (non-admin closure)LaundryPizza03 (d) 05:05, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:OVERLAPCAT, essentially the same and redundant subcat. Brandmeistertalk 08:35, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per nom - I suspect that the parent category was likely intended to be a topic category for articles related to the product itself, but in practice all of the members of both categories are gaming software so there's no real need for a separate set category. - car chasm (talk) 18:28, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Classical liberals

The result of the discussion was: purge and rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 18:47, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: split, the category tree mixes up two entirely different occupations, politicians and economists. Besides for politicians "classical" is not a defining characteristic, they are mostly simply called "liberal" politicians. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:36, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - is a classical liberal economist the same thing as Category:Classical economists? If so, I think we should drop the "liberal" from the economist categories. I also wonder if the economists even need to be split by country - I assume there are probably more politicians than economists, and which country someone is from is more relevant to politicians. If there aren't too many economists, we could rename the categories instead of splitting and just move the economists to Category:Classical economists or one of its subcategories. - car chasm (talk) 18:40, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Purge and Rename per above - I've also recently made Category:Liberal theorists for liberal political philosophers, who may or may not necessarily also be economists or politicians. From a quick check most of the people who fit in this new category don't seem to be in the above ones unless they were also economists or politicians, but there might be a few in there that fit better as political philosophers than either target category. - car chasm (talk) 19:22, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge and delete. (non-admin closure)LaundryPizza03 (d) 05:08, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge/delete per WP:SMALLCAT. Further merge than proposed is not needed, the Shinto shrines are diffused by Japanese prefectures anyway. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:20, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Merge Mitaki shrines to Mountain faith at least.
Kotohira shrine is one which is fairly significant but most of the related articles are under review or otherwise not up yet. We could delete for now but I think they are important later on. Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (talk to the cutest Wikipedian) 07:05, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure)LaundryPizza03 (d) 05:08, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCASSOC & WP:NONDEFINING
The British Ornithologists' Union is a membership-based organisation founded in 1858. According to their membership page, standard membership is £45 a year but there are less expensive options for people in school (£20) and people in developing countries (£10). The sibling category for presidents of the group is definitely defining, but just paying dues is not. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:03, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCASSOC & WP:NONDEFINING for the subcat; WP:SMALLCAT for the parent cat
The British International Studies Association is a membership-based organisation with over 1,500 members. According to their membership page, anyone can add themself to that number for £108 per year, although it's much less if you are a student or retiree. Paying dues online or mailing in a cheque is not defining. (No conceptual objection to the parent category, but it currently contains only this subcat plus the main article.) - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:03, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
